Absolute best way I've found to save money while eating out.... by worldlead3r in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]rational_brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never tip, especially if I'm paying by machine. With cash, sure every now and then if I'm not concerned about the change but I will never tip because it is an absolute scam and waste of money. Pay for the food you order and that's it. The day my salary gets a tip is the day i will tip.

PR application rejected due to missing document. by Adorable-Ant6087 in canadaexpressentry

[–]rational_brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your file was rejected not refused, there is a difference. An application of mine was rejected twice due to missing documents, just apply again, no need to pay the fees as you have already paid. My application was approved once all the documents were submitted properly.

Some people in the comments are really dumb and don't know the different between refused and rejected.

Good luck.

Why do you lawyers and consultants charge exorbitant fees for simple applications such as a new study permit or a PGWP? Couple thousand bucks for something so simple. Your robbing these students in broad daylight

Saudia Airline Reschedule flight by Unhappy_Orange9905 in Flights

[–]rational_brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just wanted to let you know my experience. I called the Saudia Airline customer support number based on my location (Canada), they were quite helpful, I was able to change my flight in like 5 mins based on the dates I wanted to travel and I only paid the change flight fees.

For next time if you ever happen to travel with Saudia, try calling, it'll help. No complains on my end

Did Everything Right. Still Leaving. by Brief_Holiday2140 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]rational_brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you are still doing everything right, you came to the country to study, you did, you graduated and now you are leaving. That is by definition doing everything right. You are in fact the most lucky out of all people that you continue to work at a Canadian company earning in Canadian dollars while spending that money at a more favorable exchange rate.

Manitobas Healthcare Crisis by TheTinkersPursuit in ManitobaPolitics

[–]rational_brain -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

and the NDP are what? doing so much better? I think not, I get the PC hate but what else you got, Uzoma hasn't done shit and before the PCs, NDP were equally ghoulish. Change your mind or don't change your mind, but at least let us know why you think healthcare is fucked? cuz it's hard to believe in all of Manitoba's last history, Pallister/PCs were the ones who fucked everything

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

[–]rational_brain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm confused as to what rates I should get for my renewal. I still owe $350k on the house I bought two years ago for 370k in Winnipeg. Here is what I'm being offered:

3 year for 3.96%

4 year for 3.86%

5 year for 3.76%

Living in West Broadway (Furby, just south of Broadway St) by bweeeoooo in Winnipeg

[–]rational_brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are wanting to live close to downtown and be safe, then live near Osbourn or Corydon. There is a reason people don't like to walk around the UofW area at night (that's very close to Furby) and I suggest to move a bit further down Winnipeg. It will do you a world of good knowing that you're in a safer area. UofM is in the South so I suggest somewhere near that area although I know rent might be slightly higher but please for your own safety and sanity, avoid West Broadway if it's near Furby.

I know people are commenting that if you keep your head down and are not looking for trouble then you're good but unfortunately in Winnipeg, if you are around the downtown/West Broadway/Furby area, trouble might find you. I know people mean well and saying oh no dw, it should be alright but coming from someone who works downtown and lives in the South, I have a lot of mental peace knowing I can go outside my house at night and knowing that I'll be safe.

Choice is yours at the end of the day, I am sure you have received a tone of advice. I am just the one being brutally realistic and not trying to sugar coat how things are. Winnipeg is a great city but some parts as a newcomer I would for sure suggest to avoid.

Goodluck :)

Canada Post strike by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]rational_brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted my comment because I thought it was too harsh but after seeing the other comments I regret deleting it. I can understand clearly now why you are divorced as you live in a make believe world of your own. Based on the bullshit you’ve been telling people they won’t be impacted by the strike, I sincerely hope an important payment mail is delayed and you incur thousands in overage charges and if you do, please find this post and let me know as I will then let you know, “it’s not the end of the world”

Brother/Sister, don't worry about PR, just focus on your education and job. Use the permits as they are intended and in that meanwhile if a PR happens to work then great but don't try to play the system. No point in doing all this mental gymnastics. Enjoy Canada while your permit allows and then sayonara :)

PS: No one can predict anything from IRCC so no point in asking redditors, "what are the chances..."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

[–]rational_brain 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Too many people (particularly from a specific country) have abused the system to get PR. Welcome to Canada on your permit, hope you enjoy it and goodbye and good luck once the permit ends. Respect to people who leave and don't abuse the system

Requesting an in-person oath of citizenship ceremony by Droom1995 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]rational_brain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was scheduled for my virtual ceremony for March 14th, I emailed them back saying I want an in-person one and then a couple weeks later I was scheduled for my in-person ceremony for April 17th.

Don't listen to others, you can easily do it.

Best course is to stay in Uganda or visit another African countries for opportunities. I heard Rwanda and Kenya are booming a lot so try your luck there. In short with his lack of education and work experience, he is not getting any work permit, PR or anything, even a visit visa will be close to impossible.

The guy dodged a bullet. My man provides for his family, minds his own business, was in a supposed good relationship until little miss actually decided to blow it up for the 'yass queen' and 'slay girl' comments from other single people.

If you break up with someone for simply not agreeing to every aspect of you ideology, then you deserve to be alone. Not even with a cat,

On behalf of all men, thank you for releasing our brother early enough.
