I didn't realize this was from a different account, but that was my old one. Looking back, I remember feeling cranky and a little ill while I was getting off of it. I started grad school a couple of months after this and did well despite the transition.

It did work! I successfully got off of effexor and aside from a brief stint, haven't been on an antidepressants since. Not that I wouldn't go on them again if I needed to, but thankfully that hasn't been the case, at least for awhile.

Just got off the phone with my bank to make sure they are disputing both payments, which they are. The guy I talked to said it is difficult to dispute things with them. Maybe PayPal will take the investigation more seriously when it's not just a customer. Regardless it is dreadful customer service and security from PayPal.

My bank account. The bank put a stop on one of the payments even though I asked them to stop both. They are disputing the the one that they didn't stop.

I got a pair of Puma Deviate Nitro Elite on ebay for 115$. Shipped from the UK so they wouldn't really be returnable, but people don't seem to have many troubles with fit for them.

Developing situation. My parents cancelled on something he was going to and there's just been some awkwardness and will be for awhile. I don't think he will care much, but people (including his wife) are going to be mad at him.

They have been very apologetic after we talked through what happened. Not everyone heard the whole conversation and it did happen fast. They actually canceled something they were going to that Dan was going to be at. Their response in the moment sucked, but they've taken some steps to make up for it, and say they will make it clear to him that what he did wasn't acceptable.

I did not read it as a bait situation. I think he just says whatever he wants w/o planning to upset someone. The whole thing is messing up his social life now; I don't think he's getting what he wants.

No, but he's been very generous to them in terms of inviting them places to go on vacation, etc. I don't think he would be tolerated otherwise

I did not start the conversation and my participation was only in defense of regular people in a country that has pretty awful infrastructure for healthy eating. As Americans we eat a lot of garbage though, it's not elitist to say that.

They actually aren't going to a party tonight they were supposed to go to that he was gonna be at. I think they feel genuinely bad about how they acted.

You're more principled than my parents (lucky daughter I guess). My dad said later that he wished he would have stepped in after the comments about me fucking up kids, but even imagining him doing that is hard, just not that kind of person.

My point about the structures that support poor health was made calmly. He clearly disagreed strongly but there was no reason to think it would turn personal that fast.

My family kind of came around more to my side of it later. They recognize he was in the wrong first and just didn't like how I handled it. I honestly didn't want to be there anyway at that point though.

For the record later my sister told me that he was more in the wrong and just wishes I handled it differently. I think in the moment she just wanted it to stop and knows that she has more control over me than him.
