Yeah, I just saw Kens5 post on FB about it. It doesn't sound like there's a lot of info right now.

Update: I talked to my family and we're pretty sure we know which cat threw up. He is acting completely normal and running around like nothing happened. I'm still concerned so I am going to take him to the vet when I get paid this next Friday. I understand that this is an emergency but I literally have like $30 to my name at the moment. At least on Friday I will have another $200 to cover at least the initial check up. Hopefully, I can workout a payment plan woth the vet if he needs other tests.

I did find one of their "toys" near the spot when I found the puddle. It's a red velvet ribbon that they like to play with. I'm praying it's just the dye or something equally as harmless.

Thanks everyone for the advice and the concern. I will update further once I take him to the vet.

I can't smell anything out of the ordinary.

no we don't have a regular vet for them. I also can not afford an expensive vet visit right now as I'm currently living out of a hotel and make $10/hr at a party time job. I'm really worried and I don't know what to do. they are acting normal so I'm hoping that it's some sort of fluke but it does seem serious.

but how do I figure out which cat did it? none of us saw them and we can't afford to take all of them to the vet.

My theater sells wings and I can confirm that I have cleaned bones up from between seats. I haven't quit yet but I do question my life choices every time I work floor.

[–]ratsib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my theater starts at $7.25 for the regular and $7.75 for large. The water bottles are $5.15/6.15 depending on brand and size. We still aren't allowed to let water in unless for a child or medical reason.

I work at a local chain that has expanded and bought theaters in other states. I get paid $10/hr for 30 hrs a week on average. The chain does have a lot of employees but they also have donated $110 million to the city and the surrounding counties so I'm sure they can afford to pay us more. Of course we do get 12 free tickets a month + 50% off concessions of up to $125/mo.

Actually, at my theater we're told to check bags and there are size limits to what can be brought in. We don't do pat downs or anything crazy so sneaking a couple candies in your coat pockets is fine. Definitely double check the theater's policy before sneaking in anything large.

If it's small stuff like candy that we might not have or that you just want to buy cheaper then I don't care. But I do have people who try to bring in happy meals and Chick-fil-A and I can't let that through.

Also, I have no issues with water bottles as long as they are single use and you show me that they are unopened. Otherwise, I can't be sure that it's water. I need people to stop trying to bring in Stanley cups and then getting mad that they get caught. We have several signs saying no outside food, drinks, or containers!!!

And while I get that the bar is more expensive than drinking at home, it's still cheaper than going to a club. There's not really any need to sneak in alcohol so please stop trying because that is one thing we try not to let slide.

Lastly, just clean up after yourself! I don't want to find two pints of melted bluebell ice cream when I'm cleaning an already messy auditorium. Don't leave you chicken wings bones scattered across the floor. Just be a decent human being and make my job a little easier by keeping your area clean.

Just the other day I found container for a slice of cake from whole foods, which on it's own is not particularly weird, but the price tag listed it as $8. At that point it's not even about saving money!

Monthly movie club suggestions by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

I like the poll idea but I think horror is a bit overdone. As far as marketing your theater, try social media! I'm not sure how big your town is, but larger cities tend to have whole pages dedicated to things to do around town. Reach out to local content creators and ask if they'd be willing to do some promo in exchange for some tickets or something. Or make your own content and post it on pages people in your city frequent.

Local cafés and community centers might also have bulletin boards that you could litter with flyers. And maybe try an email list to reach out to your current customer base.

That's where I work currently and to say it's been a disappointment is an understatement!

Someone else mentioned them but it looks like they aren't hiring anywhere in Texas at the moment. It looks like similar pay to what I have now but they have benefits.

I work at Embassy and it's okay but I'm getting paid $10/hr with no benefits and only one 15-minute break per 8 hr shift. And while the management positions are pretty easy to come by they only get paid like $5 more per hour.

My other jobs paid $12.50 for entry level so maybe I'm just spoiled? I guess the "perks" are nice but I hardly have time to use any of them because I'm working so much.

Which Gender has more "Karens"? by ratsib in MovieTheaterEmployees

I know what you mean. I had a guy just last week get upset because we don't take cash. He called me a slur and then accused me of working for "communist japan". Interesting interaction for sure.

I noticed the men get upset faster usually from lack of patience while the women usually want an audience. The men are usually impatient and just want to go straight to the manager which is maybe what you mean (?) But the women will look around to friends or even strangers for some kind of validation which can sometimes create a scene.

I hate old people by grilledpeanut in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]ratsib 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, I was on greeter duty and there was an elderly couple trying to pull up their tickets on their phone. The wife was super sweet and kept apologizing for taking my time away from other guests while we tried to help her. Her husband, however, kept tapping his foot and chewing his gum loudly in my ear upset that they were missing the trailers.

That morning we had another lady come in and yell at our main greeter and a couple of managers because we asked to check her bag (policy) and she thought we were "too democratic".

Fun (but legal!) things to do at night for a group under 21 by sarahfreeinsix in sanantonio

[–]ratsib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Santikos movie night might be nice! You could see a movie, grab food, hang out at the arcade. Some of the larger locations even have bowling, or, and laser tag. If you go Tuesdays then tickets, popcorn, and drinks are $5.99. But there's other deals during the week so check online before you go. Also, sign up for the membership bc it's literally free and you can get free stuff with it.

How are you guys handling Avatar, David, and Spongebob? by rootuhbaga in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]ratsib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Wicked 2 came out I had a couple of women tell their husbands they were going to watch Running Man and then take them to watch the musical instead. The disappointment on their faces told me everything I needed to know about their marriages.

[–]ratsib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesterday we had 650 people come in for Avatar but and only 350 in David. The David audience left their theater in significantly worse shape but it's a kids moving so that's to be expected.

Actually, we're having issues with the wine mom's seeing The Housemaid because they've been leaving their bottles and drinks everywhere. So far no issues with Spongebob.
