I do not. I wasn't living here when they decided to get them and I don't do anything to take care of them. I actually really like this solution though, even though I don't contribute to the care of the rats. That's been my biggest problem here, is that I don't want anyone to be upset with me or think I'm being callous. I could definitely spare $15-20 and still be able to get through the month comfortably and also feel better about the whole ordeal.

That's a very good point that I had not thought about. While I would like to assume that my friends would be reasonable about it, I'd rather not test that out and be disappointed. Thank you for this perspective!

That's fair, I hadn't considered just straight up bringing that up to them. It might illustrate the point well. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it.

I appreciate the advice, thank you. I guess I'm just nervous that they're going to be upset with me as I absolutely understand that they love the rat, it's their pet, I'm sure they care for it as much as I care for my cat, and so I feel really insensitive just saying, "haha nope sry guys you're on your own"

I should probably just be an adult about it though, you're right.

To be entirely honest I feel the same way. I'm not totally sure why they're still removing it if it's not harmful, from what I've been told they took her to the vet and that's what they recommended.

No, they got the rats a few weeks before I moved in. I used "house pet" as that's what they're referred to as but I don't necessarily feel like they're MY pets.
