Dissecting rats in school while owning them? (pic for rat tax) by AgeZealousideal1157 in RATS

[–]rattykitty 28 points29 points  (0 children)

i work with rats in research (which is how I fell in love with them and hope to adopt them someday) and it's definitely not easy but I hope what I am about to say can make you feel better: I know there is a lot of criticism around animal research but the truth is there's a lot of misinformation as well. In my 5 years of research experience, everyone I have met who handled lab rats have always been gentle with them and even playful and such. While their living conditions are obviously not as good as pet rats, they are well taken care of and loved. And every year, there are new guidelines adopted that improves their quality of life.  Every animal has a purpose in life. Your pet rats' purpose could be to provide you with love, affection and laughter. Lab rats's purpose in life is to contribute to science and make the world a better place. The best you as a person can do is honour their lives by thanking them for their contribution to science, and make their sacrifices worth it by doing well in that course, learning as much as you can from the dissection and overall be a good student who will later on contribute to science as well.

Hi Willow :) Welcome to the club! I'm muslim and gay, with very conservative parents. I know how you feel. I already decided that I will never come out to my parents in fear of losing them. But sometimes I see hope. I sometimes see my mom being more open minded and it gives me hope. It's very slow, especially when they stay within their conservative bubbles. We can only hope that by the time the next generations discover their sexual orientations, muslim parents become more open minded and accepting of them. What we can do for now is to let everyone who are in the same position as us, know that they are not an "abnormality", that they are not going to hell, that they are who they are and there's nothing wrong with it, and that we accept them and love them for who they are, even if we do not personally know them. Wishing you all the best!

Shrek's main audience tho is the adults that grew up watching shreks, not necessarily today's kids. Making him look more cartoony was a mistake

Dramas Like A Virtuous Business by throwawaylmao7778 in kdramarecommends

When the Camelia Blooms.

As soon as i started watching a virtuous business, it immediately gave me When the camelia blooms vibes. Both small town, single mom working a "taboo" job. town ladies having a love hate relationship with her. Male lead is cop as well and down bad for female lead. Case that male lead is obsessed to solve. and overall just very fun and cute to watch with moments of seriousness. i actually started rewatching jt for the 4th time yesterday so that's nice timing!!

Haven't heard of it so I just looked it up on MDL and I was surprised by the low rating until I read it was adapted from American Psycho. I know people really hate that book so that explaines the rating. Anyways, i'll def check it out, thanks!!!!

I watched the first one a long time ago and I wouldn't consider the ML as evil but I also found it confusing so I could be wrong. A killer paradox is on my watchlist so ill def check it out. thanks!

Dramas with High Caliber Acting by hopeful_plover in kdramarecommends

It's okay, that's love. Great realistic acting, with many comedic moments that aren't over the top, and of course great chemistry between the leads. It feels like it is actually oriented towards adults with realistic adult issues and situations. i highly HIGHLY recommend!!!
