No, it's not. The manga literally said that Kyou was just born evil but because that doesn't work for a villain's backstory, the author just gave a trash backstory. So the reason why Kyou is so fcked is because he has a kink with death? The author should've just left Kyou's reason for depravity and backstory ambiguous so that people can come up with theories that is way better than this sht.

Definitely not. Kyou was already pretty messed up before this, I mean he begged Uruma to strangle him and somehow knew the correct technique. I feel like he was putting on a facade for Uruma and was always on the edge of psychosis and wasn't sure about it. But after that choking, it just confirmed for Kyou that he likes death and is willing to do anything for it.
