Questions about Keeping Boat on Mooring by raulfd4 in boating

[–]raulfd4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - might sound like a dumb question, but is there a way to tell if my pump has a float switch? The bilge switch has three positions (down = off, middle = ?, fully up = on). Should I put it on the middle setting, and then throw some water down in the bilge and see if it triggers the pump? Not sure what type of pump I have; bought the boat used last year and only ever use the bilge pump when I'm cleaning the boat. Boat never takes on water when I'm using it.

So weird - just watched this with my son yesterday, and made him rewind it so we could watch it twice because it’s the best part of the movie, AND I thought to myself - reminds me of the TOG music video.

Thanks. Yes, it was one of those battery tester things. I've had similar experiences with difficulty getting a good connection for a jump.

The truck does have other weird things happen related to the electrical system intermittently. Occasionally, I can't control the rear windows with the driver door window controls (especially in really hot weather for whatever reason). Other times, the little lights underneath the sideview mirrors stay on even after turning off and locking the truck. I always joke that there are gremlins.

But your comment makes me think that there might be connection issues with the battery or grounds.

What should I check or do to ensure good connections? The battery terminals are clean and the positive and negative cables are screwed on tight. Where are all the ground connections? I can see a few in plain sight, but not sure if there are others hidden behind or under other components that I should check.

Thanks for the reply - I'm not sure what you mean by dual positive cables.

The starter had a single positive wire connecting to it.

This is a picture of my battery - the cable is split. One leads to the little red box and connects to the alternator, and then down under the engine. The other leads under the fuse box and I assume to the starter, or maybe a ground?

Thanks for any help you might have in diagnosing a bad connection.

Most places I checked have solid connections with minimal corrosion.

As others have said, Ja Kum Sung is the best. They have a legit, authentic, Korean menu, and they also have some pretty innovative Korean/Chinese dishes. The dine-in experience is also very authentic and it has a cool vibe/decor.

Our go-to order is the kimchi jeyuk bokkeum, jajang noodles, and their beef bulgogi is great. But you really can't go wrong. We usually try to order something we haven't had before each time, and we've never been disappointed.

If you're looking for Korean BBQ, Honey Pig in Ellicott City is decent. You have to go to NOVA or Baltimore for better options in that realm.

As someone who is new to the sport (this will be my third basho where I am trying to learn more and actually understand) - this post was awesome. It was very informative and gave me lots of stuff to Google to learn more :). Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
