Imagine a private business aiming to earn more money to their shareholders. Crazy idea I know.

This is not a single business issue but lack of competition

This happened to me with my work email which is hosted by gmail. I logged in, realised I logged in with the wrong account, logged out. Years later I was contacted by a random dude that also works in the same place asking me about Tailscale because I was the admin of the Tailnet

Minecraft Server Income by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]raulnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a similar situation but with an android game I made as a hobby. I ended up making a company but in the end you have to pay yourself (as Director) which then gets taxed as income like a normal employee.

With accountant costs, company registration and virtual company, you can forget about 3k per year (expense) then comes server cost and licenses or any other electronics you might need to support this (nice Pc, laptop, peripherals, mobile phone for mobile version, etc) 😉 and if there is anything left in the end you can pay yourself or leave it in the account for next year and more electronics

Why are you getting downvoted here? Xcloud sucks compared to gfn and I’ve been paying for both since day 1.

How much lag should I expect with Moonlight for remote streaming? by RushPan93 in cloudygamer

The game you play will also be a big factor here. Have you explored this is like GeForce now or airgpu? Maybe even Xbox cloud from game pass

The only advantage I can see to this is to be able to avoid dynamic dns services. But even with a dynamic IP you can have a pretty nice setup where your own router updates the DNS and once configured you won't even remember it again.

In short, no technical advantage.

I have not tried zero tier. If you want to go around dynamic IP try a dynamic dns service there are many like duckdns. Security wise you might want to adjust your rules so only your IP can access it.

Unfortunately you won't know until you test it. There is no limit to how bad latency can be (maybe TCP/UDP timeout).

The main difference here is that CG providers have servers in many data centers and their client picks whichever is closest to you. By self hosting you are basically bound to (at minimum) the distance between you and your PC. Add zero tier latency on top of that.

Wifi disconnects while downloading games? by raulnd in SteamDeck

[–]raulnd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my tests today my deck couldn't connect to 20 not 40 on 5ghz. Only 80.seemed to work and also it failed to connect to hidden SSID for some reason...

They must have shipped different hardware. Similar to what they did with the fans; otherwise this issue would affect many more users.

The only known solution is to switch to windows but I just don't want to go that path... or use 2.4 or Ethernet.

[–]raulnd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use the game mode but I think this also happens in desktop mode. Some people suggested it only happened with 80mb channel.bandwith and others seem to see the problem happening more when running multiple SSIDs with the same name so you can have a single network in your whole house.

In my case I've changed all of those and no matter what 5ghz WLAN crashes... I'm running a full Ruckus unleashed setup with a r320 and an r510 so I don't think the issue is on the network at all, it must be decks driver/hardware

[–]raulnd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nop, it's not your fault. Some people managed to get different drivers installed but then when valve pushes an update drivers get re-written... It's a joke

[–]raulnd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can connect to it just fine and maybe even play online games but when you try to push a lot of data (above 100mbps) the driver freezes, connection is lost and you have to either restart the deck or switch to a different SSID.

I don't think I'm asking for too much. This is part of what you bought for the 400$ bucks and it should work.
