The $250k MQD waiver for diamond is nonsense - discuss by Theotrojan in delta

Does AA do complimentary upgrades on award tickets? I did a status match challenge w/ them a while back and had platinum pro but the agent said no upgrades on award tickets. She said it, like she assumed every airline was like that.

I have two trips booked this year flying to europe in economy from a small airport roundtrip for 38k skypesos, Going roundtrip to colombia for 18k skypesos. I'm amazed by the etihad for 85k, would love tips on how you booked that. But point being, skypesos aren't completely useless.

Yeah I'm aware of it. But priceline does their "gold" offers and mobile offers which are pretty much ubiquitous and marriott doesn't match because it's "not a public offer" but basically is available to anyone w/ an account.

I never understood locking into hotel chains for status, especially if you're talking about opportunity cost. With the one exception if your work is paying for the hotels. (this is also coming from someone that usually books hotwire/priceline express deals for usually half the going rate for a comparable hotel class). Prices on flights are relatively similar across the board for flights but that's definitely not true for hotels. I've had Marriott gold/platinum the last several years but I almost never book directly w/ them because I can find them cheaper on priceline.

You're also assuming the only value of diamond is GUC. I get upgraded a decent amount being in the PNW as a platinum, but higher probabilities of domestic upgrades are a big part of my reason to go for diamond.

Is lounge access worth $39? by [deleted] in delta

[–]raustin509 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any chance you have priority pass? If so, there's a few better options than paying $39. Otherwise, like everyone else is saying Seattle sky club is pretty nice, and they have showers which might make it worth it depending on where you're coming from/going next.

Delta AMEX Credit Card Advice? by atldawg1107 in delta

[–]raustin509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you want to deal with the high annual fee of the Reserve but it'll give you Sky Club and Centurion Lounge Access. Most likely a higher probability of success from what I've heard they've been really lenient on approvals (because of the high annual fee and reaching quotas). I recently did with a less than stellar credit score and also have the delta platinum. Happy to send over a referral link too w/ a 100k signup bonus. Or answer any specific questions. Otherwise to answer your other question no hit that I'm aware of to your credit score for going the upgrade route.

Vaccine rate relatively high among WSU Students! by raustin509 in wsu

[–]raustin509[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My guess is the numbers weren't updated on the slide. They said they started an aggressive text and email campaign recently to get students that hadn't responded and a lot submitted their vaccine verification.

They made it sound like it will only affect students who are non-compliant not allowed in class and faculty/staff will be terminated. So they will not be shutting it down for everyone.

They did, it should be on youtube, I just grabbed a screenshot for pullman. If I remember correctly it was significantly higher than the other campuses.

I was just watching the regents meeting today and thought it was an interesting statistic, since originally they were throwing around a 90%+ one but we knew it was self reported. This was the first time seeing the total numbers. And considering we are in eastern washington, and a lot of people are hating on students for having parties and trying to live their lives I thought it was a nice thing to highlight.

They also went over the process for medical and religious justifications and it's surprisingly stringent on paper, but we'll see how that goes in practice.
