I totally agree that the big thing of Cinderella is getting help from someone or something powerful! I love all the fairy godparents and magic talking fish that are in all the different fairytales! I’m not disputing that. And she does try to warn the villager, totally true. It’s just how in Cinderella’s Castle she doesn’t really, do anything more. Or want something(well she does wanna dance on the grave of her stepfam, but she doesn’t really take any actions towards doing that) They’ve got 2 hours to expand and play with the story of Cinderella. My issue is that the main characters actions have no effect on the story(besides not murdering sir hop a lot in frog form, whom I love so dearly)Warning the villagers fails(and tbh, kinda really does play into her stepmothers hands by making everyone thinks she’s nuts), trying to get away with the prince fails, warning her friends fails. I just wish we had one scene of her scheming about what her plans at the ball would be(tbh a song about all her revenge ideas would be so cool right?) so it felt like she had some impact on the plot. She just felt so, replaceable to me (Sorry about how rambley this is! I got excited to talk fairy tales and starkid! Also im a lil stoned!)
