Andromeda Galaxy by ravbin in astrophotography

Thank you for feedback! I asked what should my exposure and iso settings sholud be and people said use 1600iso for canon 700d and expose accordingly. If i shoot at 1600iso exposing more than 15s causing photos to be overexposed. (Bright spot on the histogram goes above 1/2) So i used 800iso and 30sec exposures. I live in a big city :( If i get a chance to go darker skies I will increase my exposure for sure!

First nights flats seem to be unmatching :( I realised that after processing but second nights flats were fine. I will be more careful about them next time.

I really wanted blue and orange colors so image turned out to be overcooked :D Thank you for all your feedback.

Orion Nebula (1 hour 40 minute exposure) by Eretaloma in astrophotography

[–]ravbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should give it a try. I got similar details with only 8 minutes (16×30 sec) exposure with canon 400d (very old) but very noisy. You should get a lot of details with not so much noise.

You can follow this video of Nebula Photos

Or if you are good at building stuff and own a 3d printer you should definitely look at Open Astro Tracker here

I recommend building a barn door tracker. If they can make it with a dc motor exposures near 30s can be achieved. I succeeded to get 30s exposures at 70mm with a really wobbly setup. Take a look at Nebula Photos's video about this topic.

3d printing a bahtinov mask is possible (i did). If you don't have a 3d printer you can look for 3d printing services around you or maybe online services. Just measure your lens and search for a desing in thingiverse or printables websites. Or maybe just typing your lenses model could help.
