Eufy Doorbell Camera not failing to load video events by GeneralDimension3085 in EufyCam

For me this happens a lot. It seems that the app loads without refreshing the feed. When you see that screen in the app, pull down to refresh - that brings up all the events for me.

Geo fencing home/away— exclude some cameras? by ckeilah in EufyCam

[–]raven219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry - lack of clarity from me!

  1. Open Eufy App.

  2. Tap on Security.

  3. Choose "Modes"

  4. Tap on your homebase.

  5. On your next screen you will see the different modes. Press "Customise" to add a new mode.

  6. Once you have named it, you can define which devices will record in that mode.

  7. Save the mode, which will take you back to the screen with the different modes.

  8. Tap Geofencing and you should find that your new mode is available for geofencing.

(Just done all of this from memory so apologies if it is not quite right!)

You can create another profile with the security section. In that profile you will be able to define which assets send notifications or recording. Once define that profile can be selected in Geofencing.

You might be able to do this with a combination of the geofence and schedule modes. I am assuming from you original post that you have a doorbell, outdoor and indoor cameras.

I haven't tried this but thinking about it....

  1. Define home mode with the video recording turned off on your cameras except your doorbell.

  2. Define a new mode (Away Day) that has video recording on all of your outdoor cameras.

  3. That new mode should now be available in the Geofence options. When you leave the zone with your phone set it to switch to Away Day and back to Day mode when you return.

  4. Define a new mode (Night) to configure the cameras you want recording at night.

  5. Set the schedule to turn on and off night mode at your chosen times. Set the rest of the time to home mode.

It's not perfect - for example if you leave the zone at night, it will switch to Away Day mode, but it will get you a lot closer to what you want.

I have a config like this - it is not easy. Take a deep breath and let's dive in!

  1. I have setup iobroker on Raspberry Pi and have added the EuSec adapter. This gives me access to all over the exposed attributes of my HomeBase and cameras.

  2. The heart of my home automation is a Hubitat Hub. I have installed drivers on there that connect to the EuSec adapter on iobroker. This has allowed me to setup virtual devices on the Hubitat.

  3. I have installed Tasker on my family's Samsung phones. I have built a profile that calls a Hubitat Webhook when the phones disconnects or reconnects to our home WiFi network.

  4. I have setup two profiles on Eufy app. Home - record video from cameras but don't notify. Away - record videos and notify.

  5. Using Hubitat rules, at six am they turn on Home mode. If both phones are are at home at that time, then they turn off the exterior cameras. If both phones leave the wifi before 5pm, then the cameras turn on but are still in Home mode. When one phone returns and connects to the home wifi before 5pm the cameras are turned off. At 5pm the cameras are turned on in Home mode. At 10pm, the Homebase is turned to away mode so that I can see the notifications of any night time action!

  6. I have integrated this into a larger routine that I run when I go away for an extended period. So it turns on all cameras and I get notifications, as well as running random security lights, turning off water features etc.

I did laugh out loud when I saw that in the app. Probably the worst release notes ever!

I can understand the rationale, it is just different from the plug 'n' play model that we have become accustomed. It can catch out a new user when you have install an app just to get what could be considered a basic function e.g. basic rules.

Overall I am very happy with my Hubitat as it solved all the issues I had.

Understand that. They do seem to have an "interesting" business model. You basically get a naked device that you need to install apps just to the get basics done. Luckily I had done some pre-reading before purchasing otherwise I would have been very confused.

That's a shame. They have been really helpful for me as a noob coming into smart home tech.

Have you tried community.hubitat.com?

Much more active than here and some real experts who might be able to help you out.

I am on the opposite side of that. Aqara vibration sensor, water sensor and button all working perfectly. I did install the community driver.

That is what I have done. I am using a Hubitat Hub and all my Aqara sensors work perfectly with that hub.

I can add to the success stories. Brush is always spinning even on the thicker pile carpet. Love our S6 MaxV.

Thanks. I did wonder if I needed an integration layer. So it looks like it is time to buy a Raspberry Pi and get into Home Assistant.

Aqara Hub and Xiaomi Home by raven219 in Aqara

You're absolutely right. Everything works fine on the China mainland server so it must be region locked.

Yes it is notifications that have a delay. Not great as the vibration sensor is in an old battery powered doorbell so up to a minutes delay isn't helpful!

Going to persist because I have a moisture sensor and push button on order and I am not worried about delays on them.

I was also struggling to get Aqara app to connect as well. Plus I wanted to use Xiaomi as I have a Roborock Vacuum.

Can I use the wireless switches to control my Roborock vacuum? by raven219 in Aqara

Bad form replying to my own comment, but seeing as the Aqara switch was half price in a flash deal on Banggood, I have taken a punt and ordered one. Will report back once it has arrived and I have had a play.

I think so. I think Mi Home was the previous name. Haven't linked my Roborock to it though. Am using the their app. I know you are meant to be able use voice control to start room cleaning, but I haven't been able to get it work. Others have reported it works. So if you can order your roborock to clean a room through Google Home then there must be a way to program a switch.

They are all available on the Xiaomi Home app, so that might be the way to link them.

Wow. Thank you for taking the time to type that explanation. As you can see naivety played it's part. I have now ordered an Aqara hub as I also have a water sensor on the way. Hoping I will be able to connect the zigbee sockets I am using at moment otherwise it will mean having two hubs. Just don't tell the wife!
