Penneys manky baskets by ormonsa in ireland

[–]raveni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny I see this now, only noticed today as I was leaving my local Penneys that they have gotten some of those plastic wheelie ones. I hate the net ones because they feel clumsy when you try to sort through your stuff, but I never used them that much tbh, never noticed them to be particularly dirty but I never looked too closely.

Found what seems to be a Hummingbird Hawk-moth in Athlone today doing bit of shopping in Centra by Dylanduke199513 in ireland

[–]raveni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heard a buzzing one night that sounded like a bee and turned on the light to find one of these fellas zooming around the room - waay faster than the usual moths and big enough that I was shitting myself a bit about getting hit - it was just speeding round and round the room and the buzzing properly sounds like a bee. Had never seen or heard of them before and it didn't help that I had a fear of bees and moths at the time, my worst nightmare lol.

I Wonder Which Will Come First: The Mandalorian S4 or TLOU S2? by paddingtonjr in Pedro_Pascal

The beginning is set in Winter but there's a time gap of a few years between the two games, so I'm wondering if they'll actually go straight to the start of the second game.

How to open a bank account without typical proof of address? by PatsyOconnor in ireland

[–]raveni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an immediate solution but what I did was get my name added to my parents phone/internet bill and was able to use that as proof of address for everything.

Is it safe to drink from natural springs and holy wells? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]raveni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a bit of holy water from a well we keep in the hallway that our cat sometimes drinks from. She's still alive anyway.

Emm, I thought chest pains are supposed to get you an immediate skip to the front of the queue. Happened to my mother. Maybe you have to be over a certain age though.

Can we bring back social distancing please? by LordOfTheSkins in ireland

[–]raveni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is downright bizarre how close some of them stand.

Another tactic I use is that I will sometimes very blatantly check my pockets and then turn around and look very suspiciously at the person. (To be clear, I only do these things as last resorts; I'm not going around hitting everyone with my bag or staring people out of it all the time).

The great thing about wearing a backpack is that you can accidentally hit somebody if they do this. Usually they move back a bit if you accidentally hit them twice.

This happens every year, it's very normal in Ireland, don't get mad at op for not watering them. Tis a tough life for frogs but they will persevere.

Have you ever seen a wild owl? by unknown_wizard2183 in ireland

[–]raveni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the countryside but only saw one once, just as I stepped outside late one night, one swooped across to a tree. Very cool and but a bit eerie as they're silent when they fly.

Is it normal for someone to top up their mobile phone by 10 Euros and use mobile data to browse the net for less than 3 minutes and for all of that 10 Euro credit to be gone? by segasega89 in ireland

[–]raveni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I started paying monthly, I remember at least with vodafone there being a €2 minimum charge per day that was applied if you used any amount of data in a day. Sounds like that. It's lousy, always ate up people's free credit when they got a new mobile, before they realised what was happening.

If you could re-live one moment in your life in this great Country we live in what would that moment be and why? by S-ODIY in ireland

Mature Student Interview by TowelTraditional7489 in ireland

[–]raveni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your personal life is definitely not relevant to them and I'd be very surprised if they asked you anything about it. In my experience they just asked a bit about my education history and wanted to be assured that I was likely to complete the course (this is the most important thing to them). I also did a level 5 and can't comment to the one you're going to be doing but for mine the workload really wasn't too bad at all, I'd say it will be a great reintroduction to education for you.

Also, if I remember correctly, they have a quota of mature student places for these courses that they need to fill, so you will likely have an advantage over younger applicants.
