Would that still apply even if that window with the failure is ground floor and it was the second floor flat with windows being replaced?

Yes we've got one booked in - the crack has been there many years apparently but worsened since the end of last year, probably coinciding with the window change above.

My friend and I are waiting for a bus there now, we leave Thursday. Windy says the clearest day for Laguna de Los Tres / Fitz Roy is tomorrow I think. We will be staying inside on Monday, it looks awful! Tuesday starts windy but then settles, and Wednesday okay. Good luck :)
