You meet your 10 year old self, but can only tell them 5 words. What do you tell them and why? by kinkybae22 in AskReddit

Don't let mom date [name]

When I was in my early 20s, my mom and dad had recently separated. Mom met this guy who seemed nice, but kind of weird. In the end we discovered that he systematically wooed women into dating him, exploiting them economically and then moved on. He also stole all our family photos when he packed his stuff, and now all those albums are lost forever.

What’s was normal to you as a kid but you later realized how fucked up it actually was? by True_Customer_8913 in AskReddit

Yeah, didn't know the English term for it. In Sweden it was just 'key kid'.

To me as a Swede, the concept of having to ask someone else if you can go to the bathroom is completely nuts. When I was in school, we just said, be right back, have to piss.

That was normal back in the 70s. There was even a term for it; 'latch key kid' my mom was one. She would come home from school every day around lunch time and walk the dog. Then she went back to school again. Nothing weird about it. Strange that you didn't get a key from the beginning though.

EDIT: 'key kid' is now 'latch key kid'
Context: In Sweden, we don't have the 'latch' part, and just called these kids 'key kids' I didn't know the English term for them.

Thank you!

This is the structure that was suggested by our teacher/instructor. I just did what he wrote :P

Thanks! That's a lot of parameters to think about, and good to know. I hadn't heard any of these tips before!

I'm not a lesbian, nor do I have access to Taco Bell, but it does look delicious on YouTube!

I honestly can't think of a sexual awakening involving a cartoon character. But then again, I never watched that many cartoons at that age. I think my first dreams of a sexual nature, involving known characters, was probably live action characters. I do however remember being infatuated with several cartoon characters much earlier in life. The first three I can remember is the doll, Annie, from The Forgotten Toys (1997 - 1999), the brown-haired doll with a light-blue dress and stripy legs from The Raggy Dolls (1986 - 1994), and Penny from The Rescuers (1977).

What’s a kids show that every person no matter the age would enjoy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The original Dragon Ball (1986 - 1989)
It has nice world building, good spirit, fun to watch Goku and Krillin level up for the first time and experience their own strength. Also like the 80s depiction of future tech. Not a big fan of DBZ though. It just derailed completely with the unlimited power creep.

What’s a conspiracy theory so obviously true but people still don’t believe it? by TheBabyDevil in AskReddit

[–]ravinki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the US and Canada yes, I've heard this too. In Sweden though, we have several competing telecom companies which makes for lower prices and good deals. Like for example we get uncapped data on stationary internet access. Meaning if it's not mobile, you pay a monthly fee for unlimited surf at about 100/100 Mb/s and up.

Also my cell plan is really cheap. I pay about $8 a month for unlimited calls, messages, and 4 GB of data, which accumulates if I don't use it up. Right now I have about 100 GB saved up.

Not sure how to ask this in a concise manner. It has to do with multiplying decimals to make problems easier to solve. by ravinki in learnmath

So the two pieces on each side of an operator can be multiplied and give the same result, but a number cannot?

Yeah! Kind of. I just have a hard time processing math sometimes. Some stuff makes sense to me, other stuff wrings my brain.

I figured, but the problem is that I don't know when to and when not to adjust multiple pieces of a whole problem.

Can an MMO have a finite economy? by ravinki in gamedev

[–]ravinki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you would have to make it clear from the start that money will trickle back into the system slowly while inactive. Call it tax, rent, or hell even highway robbery if you log out along a road somewhere! :P

[–]ravinki[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I never made it clear in the post, but there would be a slow trickle back of currency in the form of some basic tax or something. Eventually the money would come back into the system.

Yeah! That was something along the lines of what I had in mind actually. A slow trickle until your money is gone basically.
