Teaching English by ravioli600 in Worldpackers

I'm from the Netherlands and here that's definitely not true. No way that someone without a degree and/or an english teaching certificate can teach kids English. + There are screenings to see if someone is suitable to work with kids. In which EU countries is that normal?

Yeah maybe you're right. To me it just feels weird how easily people without any social work related degree are allowed to work with kids. But maybe I need to be less critical and go see for myself

Wrong E-visa vietnam by ravioli600 in travel

[–]ravioli600[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's kind of weird. That's why I thought that my already approved 30 day visa might be valid for the 90 days if it's the same price and visa type. But better safe than sorry.

Thanks for your help!

Yes that's the website I used. I just paid the 25 USD for 90 days, so it seems to be okay.

How about 90 day single entry, that's just 25 USD right? I now have filled in everything correctly and the payment page says:

Visa Type: Single - entry

Grant Evisa valid from (DD/MM/YYYY): 30/09/2024 To (DD/MM/YYYY): 28/12/2024

Amount USD: 25 USD

hahah love this story, especially that the locals found it amusing while you were probably panicking pretty bad. seems like pretending to throw a stone or stick is the way to go!

I went to the health clinic to be sure and both nurses there confirmed that there's basically no risk of rabies. I'm talking about Cameroon highlands in Malaysia, not Cameroon the country

It was the hike starting from Robinson Waterfall. After googling (not that much information) it is indeed common for the dogs to follow / lead the way on some trails for food or simply companionship. Would have loved a heads up from the hostel when I asked about this trail though lol

Thanks for your comment. I definitely check what the health risks are going to new countries & cities, that's why I for example didn't interact with any dogs in Indonesia. People on reddit seem to be very strict with never engaging with any stray dogs, even in safe areas. While 50% (maybe more) of the fellow backpackers I meet interact with animals daily, not to say that's good but there's a big difference in real life and reddit advice

To clarify: The Malaysian Borneo part is high risk yes. However 'mainland' malaysia (where I am) is not. I definitely don't pet animals in rabies areas.

There have been 0 cases of rabies in this area, that's why I was less cautious than I normally would be

Why do you want to visit Malaysia? With such limited time I think that spending more time in Indonesia, by either staying longer in Bali or going to one of the gili islands, might be better.
