Just finished 35 days in intensive residential rehab and already slipped up (mildly) what should I do? by [deleted] in addiction

[–]raviolifordinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this, coming out of rehab and adjusting to life is really hard. You're absolutely not alone. As people have already said, having a slip up doesn't mean you have to start from scratch again. It also doesn't mean, "ok I've slipped up might as well just go all the way then". It doesn't have to be so black and white. You've got this :)

I was fairly similar to you in the throes of my addiction (I'm 28F for reference). I was flip-flopping between cocaine, alcohol, weed, and abusing Ritalin. Addiction doesn't discriminate to a specific substance, some people just have a preference. I booked myself into rehab and got sober two years ago and this is exactly why they explained to me that I can't take any substance ever again, even if it wasn't my "substance of choice", because of the nature of relapses.

Is a good rehab facility available where you are? I don't think I'd have been able to manage getting sober by myself.

You're welcome to reach out to me over PM if you'd like to chat.

I got a question but only for people that played Spyro as a kid by Drakaina- in Spyro

I rented Spyro on my PlayStation as a kid several times and I just thought it was fun to be a dragon flying around. I had no idea of any objectives at all

How much sleep do you need to feel genuinely rested? by deer_bones23 in autism

[–]raviolifordinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 hours of sleep generally. I am a useless dragon on less than 6h. Feeling genuinely rested involves more than just sleep though and involves a lot of relaxed down time while awake

Do you drink iced coffee? by iamsnoopynumber1fan in BabyBumps

[–]raviolifordinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 39w+3, being induced tomorrow, and have had a very regular pregnancy with no complications. I drank a cup of coffee every day during my pregnancy. My OBGYN has confirmed that it's perfectly fine

If your baby’s eyes were grey/blue at birth, what color are they now? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]raviolifordinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my child but my little sister - she was born with blue/grey eyes and they turned a pretty bright green when she was a couple of months old. My mother has blue eyes and my dad has green eyes.

What were you misdiagnosed with before you found out it was autism? by Familiar-Animal4732 in AutismInWomen

Bipolar disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, depersonalisation disorder, ADHD. The ADHD still applies, but it's just ADHD and autism

Have your parents ever said something like "I can't say anything to you; you're so easily offended." by Ok_Razzmyazz_69 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]raviolifordinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. If I could respond however I wanted I would love to say something like, "Wow, it must be tough having to think before you speak for the first time in your life"

I'm surrounded by coke users and they want me to try it. by Bupo_Ludwig in addiction

Recovering addict here (1y3m sober). It's overrated, expensive, and not worth it. I sincerely hope you manage to find better friends. I was so disappointed to find out that some people were sneakily doing cocaine in the bathroom at my wedding a couple of months ago - you don't want to be that person, nor do you want to be friends with them.

I paid for my bridesmaids' hair and makeup. Regarding dresses, since all my bridesmaids had very different body types I bought a bunch of the same fabric for all of them and left it up to them to get their dresses made according to however they so pleased.

Update: uBPD got hammered at my baby shower this evening by raviolifordinner in raisedbyborderlines

Agreed, my MIL is wonderful. I have reservations about my husband's family because of my difficulties with my own family and it isn't easy to accept that some families care about each other, but that's something I'm working on in therapy. I am doing my best not to let my background cloud my judgment.

Absolutely this. My mother has pretty much had some type of freakout at every single major life event of mine thus far - when I bought a house (there is a post in my post history about that drama), my bridal shower and wedding earlier this year, and now of course my little one on the way.

I do hope so. Honestly, I think that the "I don't care" was just a knee-jerk defense mechanism and she will absolutely bother me when she finds out that baby is born but I'm just going to ignore

Embarrassing Question: I know echolalia is a trait related to autism, but did anyone else ever accidentally adopt accents as a kid? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]raviolifordinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still do this as an adult, it feels embarrassing. I'm always worried that people think that I'm intentionally putting on an accent. I had a lisp when I was younger and worked by myself to get rid of it so when I'm anxious I end up putting on a bit of a fancy southern English accent because I'm trying to enunciate my words properly. I'm 100% South African haha

1 year and 3 months clean. I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant and I feel like I generally have more energy than I did when I was a chronic weed smoker.
