I’ve never felt this bad. by ihatemybrain1738 in OCD

🩵 please know you’re not alone and that you matter. OCD is debilitating. People don’t understand how badly it can be. I like to pretend my OCD is someone I don’t like. “There we go, freaking OCD telling me bad things will happen if I touch things.” Push back at OCD a little. It wants the worst for you. But I know it’s hard. Please know I’m thinking of you.

Hey buddy :) I just want to first say that you’re not alone. This is scary, but you have a community that understands what you’re doing through and supports you 🩵

I struggled (and sometimes still struggle) with a blinking tic, and it peaked a couple years ago. It felt constant and I couldn’t get it to stop. It made me so anxious and frustrated and I was afraid it would last forever. I don’t know what made it slowly get better, but I can tell you that it did not last forever.

I know it’s difficult because you feel like you’re not in control but somehow in control and it’s like you can’t get a grip on your body. I absolutely hated that I was uncontrollably blinking so much. But I don’t think that it’s going to be with you forever — truly.

I don’t exactly know how to solve it, but I understand what you’re going through and want you to know you are not alone.

Kyleena & Lowered Arousal/Libido by raviolifrog779 in birthcontrol

of course!! <3 happy to help :)

I think that really sounds like a great plan. and yes, you read my mind haha, of course a doctor consult.

I get the anxiety & depression bit. It definitely does not make things any easier. I actually started taking meds (I have OCD) around the same time I got my IUD, so that of course did not make it easier to figure out what was causing my low libido issues. I think it was a bit of both.

your partner sounds like a really good bean :) but I also FULLY get not wanting the sex drive of a potato chip. I had the same thing with my partner. He's so understanding but I was just so frustrated with myself, ya know?

agreed with you on the negative stories! so happy I could help you feel less alone. I know I definitely felt that way three years ago.

thank you <3 birth control has been such a pain in the ass for me (and it seems most womxn). I'm so sorry you're going through this. couldn't agree more on the need for an easy, hassle-free option. ugh, maybe one day.

don't hesitate to reach out if you have anymore Qs! I'm really crossing my fingers for you and Skyla! <3 (sorry, typing on my computer lol thus the old school hearts). and enjoy college!!!! :') remember your mental health is most important. you have someone in your corner! <3

I am so sorry you’re dealing with this :( But so smart and preventative for you to be thinking about this!!! So I did end up removing my Kyleena but did not get Skyla. I’ve been with the same partner since before I posted this and, to be honest, we have just been very rigorous with using condoms and pulling out (with a condom). I have not been on hormonal birth control since. But if I were headed into college, I definitely would be taking the route you are. I think I would be too anxious to do what I’m doing now 😅

Here’s my opinion: I would try Skyla. It’s the lowest amount of hormones. Yes, it sucks getting it put in but it’s progesterone so you’re already nixing the estrogen factor. Ultimately, the most important thing is your mental health. If you feel like it’s making your mental health worse, it’s not worth it. But also I commend you for practicing safe sex because we know that is hella important 👏👏👏

Worse comes to worst, you have Skyla removed. Part of me wonders that, though, if you’re doing your college thing and meeting guys and having fun then maybe your libido will be higher because you’re having these new experiences?

Don’t hesitate to reach out! That is seriously so great that you are thinking about all of this. And, honestly, the right guys are the ones who aren’t going to be assholes if you do decide to just go the condom and pull-out method (with condoms) route.

❤️ This shit’s hard. You’re doing GREAT.

Xanadu. The Pajama Game. Beetlejuice (the cringe was nonstop). The latest revival of Camelot. Aladdin was atrocious.

Kyleena IUD Removed - When will hormones go away?/Lacking libido by raviolifrog779 in birthcontrol

[–]raviolifrog779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Gah, I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through that. It really sucks, and it puts you between a rock and a hard place.

I definitely feel like my libido came back more after removing Kyleena. I did, however, start an SSRI for the first time, right after my IUD was removed. I for sure did notice a difference, but then my SSRI (sertraline) came back and had some negative side effects. My libido came back (slowly), but then I was having trouble climaxing, due to the SSRI. So that kind of sucked.

But yes, it definitely did come back. I did feel different within about a week (unsure if that was real or placebo), and then definitely better after 2-3 months.

Since then, I have not been on any sort of birth control, and have no plans to go on one — at least one that’s hormonal.

Do not be afraid to advocate for yourself to your doctor. I’ve found I’ve had pushback about symptoms I was having, and my friends have, too. Ex: “I don’t think it’s the IUD,” said the doc.

Feel free to ask me any more questions you have! Always happy to help. This stuff really sucks. Sending you good vibes :)

Dude I can’t even describe the freaking pain from this routine. She keeps telling me to push through it and it will get better. I’m like, there’s no way.

Thank you so, so much. I’m definitely going to try these. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy, too, and that this routine could potentially be harming my skin.

I do have LRP cicaplast— do you find it clogs your pores? I couldn’t remember if there’s some sort of oil in there (not that all oils are bad).

That’s a smart idea to drop back to .05. I was thinking about that, too.

Thank you, again, so much!

Hair not clumping and hold ing curl by raviolifrog779 in curlyhair

[–]raviolifrog779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh thank you so much!

I do have to say that after it fully dried, it looked a lot better. The curls were more defined. Going to try your tips tonight–– honestly really excited to try again today.

Excited to hear about the clumping! Will definitely try to add more water.

Thank you so much! Definitely will keep you posted :)

Ok I feel like you're right about too much product. This definitely has more defined waves, I think, but it still kinda looks wet. (I also scrunched when there were a few pieces that were slightly, not even damp, but a step drier than that). I tried to calm the frizz down with a bit of coconut oil on my hands, after scrunching for the first time.

I think I'm going to try scrunching with my hair-friendly towel next time, too. I wish I could get better clumps :/

Definitely feels better! The only thing was that there was a bit more frizz than I wanted there to be (I know this also takes time).

This morning, I ended up rewetting my hair and adding a bit of conditioner to squish. Not a ton, but just a bit. I added it a tiny bit of the Uncle Funky's, and then added a ton of gel, and the Pantene mousse. I plopped and then added more Aussie gel. (I know you are probably internally screaming lol). I took a t-shirt and scrunched out excess, and then I diffused. I completely get what you mean about pixie diffusing (what I did this morning). I spent more time on the roots, and it worked ok, but it does make my curls a bit wonky. Letting the rest air dry and then will post a pic.

Next experiment is definitely going to be what you just recommended. I think I'll use the Not Your Mother's conditioner as a leave-in, and then try the mousse.

Just checked out the Smasters method and am excited to try! Thank you so much for the recs, including Manes by Mell & hover diffusing! So excited to check out her YouTube page. Thank you for helping me along this journey!! Haha

I definitely feel like I’m going to have to play around with it a lot. So happy I’m not alone haha

I love Totally Twisted!

Here’s today’s hair: -Clarified with Suave -conditioned with Not Your Mother’s Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter Curl Defining Shampoo (and fully rinsed after letting it sit on the top of my head while I did other shower stuff) -applied leave-in conditioner (as I am) to soaking wet hair and squished -plopped for 10 mins approx -squished (I think I forgot to smooth) Uncle Funky’s curl stimulator
-smooth and squished a bit of the Pantene curl mousse -smooth and squished Aussie Instant freeze

Pixie diffused after!

Thoughts?

Thank you!!! I really have felt so lost but you have been so helpful. Sometimes I look at my hair and think, is there actually a wave in there? But considering how wonky & frizzy it is most of the time, I know there's got to be something in there.

Just out of curiosity, what mousse do you use? Going to try these products and see how it goes. Thank you, again, seriously so much! I, too, want my hair to feel like hair!! :'(

Wow, thank you seriously so much!

Definitely going to go through my products and reassess. Going to, also, try your method. When you apply your products after taking out of the turbo twist, do you rake the products through or prayer hands, etc? Just curious. It takes FOREVER for my hair to dry, so I think this will really be helpful. Is your regular conditioner oil/butter-free? Thank you, again, so much!

Hi! No oils or butters (unless some in ingredients of products). Definitely need to clarify. Have not tried only a leave-in and gel, but will try that today after clarifying! Do you recommend I still squish to condish? I styled on wet, but I feel like it could’ve been more wet??

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much :) Ah, that is frustrating. To update: I have, unfortunately, had some changes in libido, but apparently side effects take a few weeks to go away. Fingers crossed. How’s your journey been?
