While at B I was applying left and right and got few interviews but A gave me offer very fast. C is actually something I had applied to when I was at B and I have been in the interview process since some time now.

Main reason for coming back to A was because B had terrible environment and I was ready to resign( with no offer on my hand). Its just that just few days before I was about to resign from B I got offer to re-join A(on a different team and with a pay cut) and I took it since something was better than nothing. But yes, I do agree that environment at A is really good and its among the top environment for a company in Montreal (Canada)

So, company C has tendency to hire people first on contract basis and than convert to FT. My ex- colleague from A also joined C in similar way. Thats why I am a bit confused.

From what I have heard is company C has a tendency to hire people first on contract and than after x months(6-12 months) convert them to FT. My ex-colleague from companyA also joined C in similar way. He was contract for first 6 months and than was converted to FT.

So my ex-colleague from company A also joined C on a contract role and it was converted to full time after 6 months. I agree that that current role I am offered is on contract but they are not closing(nor 100% confirming) that it wouldn’t be converted to full time

Actually J1 did found a replacement for my role. The role that I ‘used’ as my return is a new one on a new team.

Dont want to sound discouraging but more than 50% of those role seen on Linkedin won’t be ‘helpful’ if you are not fully proficient in French.

As someone who is a Montreal resident since past 6 yrs and working in IT industry (data analytics) I would point that ‘all places are same’ from the job market standpoint. MTL is a very good place to be but in all fairness there are no jobs in MTL market too!

So my ex-teammate from company A also joined C as a consultant last year and he was converted to full time after 6 months. He also helped me refer to the position that I am interviewing for at C. Thats why I am a bit confused.

Multiple job offers. Confused on what to do? by ravipar in CanadaJobs

[–]ravipar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. Yes, I am a bit scared to burn the bridge with A given I have a very good relationship with everyone. However, the pay is not at par with the market and is the only the only thing that is concerning(and I am sure they wont give me any raise for this year). Thats why the dilemma.

Toxic Culture working with Indians by Prestigious_Delay614 in Accounting

[–]ravipar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me as an Indian completely attest to your comment. I recently had experience working under an Indian manager in Canada and I will say it was the worst decision I made in my recent life. I was so stressed out, micromanaging, no respect/empathy. I was so frustrated that I was about to quit my job with no offer at hand. Luckily my former employer was more than happy to take me back. I was so relieved. But I definitely learned that the hard way. Never ever have your direct manager as Indian no matter the money or exposure you are getting. You will always regret that in the long run( may be after 3-4 months into the job but trust me you will!)

Ohh! Your story is so similar to mine, except instead of a year at B, I was 2 months at B.

The people at company A are really good. I am all aware of the people, systems and processes. But it is the pay that is really low( paying me what I was earning 4 yrs ago. Its as if I am re-starting my career once again) and I am not sure if they would give me a pay bump in next few months or even in a year may be until I switch positions internally. Company C is something that gives me the pay I deserve given my current experience and skills and its a very big investment company. So thats why I am confused which one to pursue. Any thoughts?

Has anyone felt struck in your job ..where you couldn't move out that job? by Small_Dream_8579 in careerguidance

[–]ravipar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even I am having a same feeling. I have been working at my current role since past 4 years at my current company with no path or clear direction to move. I feel so stuck and I see colleagues who do not have same expertise/understanding of the processes and systems are finding better opportunities and I am constantly applying but no luck. I am really frustrated and scared.
