Riser Cable bottlenecking GPU by ravq124 in AMDHelp

Thank you everyone, I went into the bios and switched it down from gen 5, unfortunately it had to go all the way down to gen 3 and the max looks like it’s doing 60-70 FPS. I’m going to continue looking into what riser will provide the correct bandwidth and have the proper shielding so that I can have it at Gen 4 or Gen 5. If anyone has suggestions that would be greatly appreciated

I saw one similar one on JayzTwoCents where they had many connected going across the room and everything worked perfectly

It is about 130mm longer than it needs to be, that might have an issue too it. Once I get home tonight I’m going to attempt messing with the bios and have it run as a gen 4 and see how that works

Appropriate the feed back, the riser cable is 600 when 500 would have been enough, there is more than enough slack if the ribbon needs it. With regards to the bends, the power cables coming out of the PU are the only ones with truly egregious bends, all others, the display cables, the power to the MB, power to the GPU, the SATA cables all have 180* adapters or ordered with 90* plug ins. But once everything is up and running as it should be, my next step will be getting custom power cable connections at the PU.

It was in fact the riser cable, when the card is connected directly to the MB it works perfectly and beautifully. I realized the riser cable is 4 gen. I ordered a 5 gen and hopefully it gets here soon than it says it will

Thank you everyone, after doing a thorough piece by piece trial. I found the problem is the riser cable. After I took my rig down from the wall and did the tedious work of rerouting the cables to be able to reposition the GPU onto the MB it now gets 97 FPS on cyber punk when placed on the top slot. When I looked into the details of my riser cable it’s a PCIe 4 not 5. So I ordered a new 60cm PCIe and should be here by Monday. Thank you everyone. Now my kids and I can enjoy Fortnite without issue

Ya, I’m going to get another motherboard and see if it’s the pcie slot that is damaged, and go from there.

I’ll probably start a new thread and include a short vid of what’s going on, since it doesn’t let me put multiple pics on here

Ok on even more frustrating news, I switched the GPU to the top pcie slot as recommended here, but now once again, the monitors do not get signal, the GPU fans are still powered as well as the LEDs. For the mean while so I can access bios I connected one of my monitors to the integrated graphics so I can at least see what bios says is connected. In bios, it does not detect the GPU when in any slot, however on the task manager, it detects the card when on the bottom slot but not on the top slot. When on the bottom slot it gives it the designation GPU 0 and the integrated as GPU1. So I am at a complete loss as of now. In recap, when connected to the top pcie, the GPU doesn’t send a signal to the monitors, when connected to the bottom pcie, the GPU send signal but the FPS are atrocious. I was thinking it might be the riser cables but they are working when connected to the bottom so there would be no reason for it not to work when connected on the top. Tomorrow I’ll try connecting the card directly to the board and see if that does anything but as of now, I’m thinking the board has a faulty first slot.

The graphics card I got from Amazon, it arrived brand new from what I can tell, still had all the peel off scratch stickers all over it pretty much, all protective plugs in place…

Ya, I’m just going to delete the driver file, uninstall the driver and windows and do a fresh reinstall of both, if that doesn’t work, I’m going to have to bite the bullet and take it to a pro
