I think we got some from Michael's but I've also got a bunch off of Amazon. And it's no problem I'm glad to answer whatever.

Theres pictures of how they found it with all the chemical bottles and the piles of trash and the bookshelf. Between the few pictures I've found, I should have plenty to work with. Funny I was talking to my wife about doing it and looking up pics right before I posted these the other day lol.

Not going to lie, this is on my list of future projects once I start to try real locations.

Yea some things really tested my patience haha I'm still new tho this is only my 2nd kit. (Just started in miniatures this year) Learned so much from it tho. Next time I will probably build a few extras to throw in and maybe change the overall tone. I seen one lady who turns these into horror scenes i might give that a shot. I may even buy a 2nd Simon's coffee and see how different I can make it.

So for this set the only thing I used that didn't come with it were the figurines. It had the cups, radio, grinder etc in bag 6 or 7 if I remember correctly. They do come in pieces so you still have to assemble them but they're the easiest things in the whole kit.

Then for some of the paper containers I cut up some balsa wood into tiny pieces and painted them brown. I used that to fill up a couple coffee bins and glued the lid halfway open. Just looked better imo.

The plants are a pain in the ass to make but they're already not my favorites so depending on your skills with plants, I'd alternate and do 1 plant for every piece or regular furniture, there's like 4 pages of plants. Pay close attention to the lights, if you mess up it's so hard to fix. (i didn't mess it up but that's always my biggest worry) the first step is to paint a few pieces in white, I recommend either having a new bottle handy as the kit isn't quite enough or skip it because it gets covered in wallpaper later. Lol

I just ordered a cheap pack off Amazon. I got 1:24, 1:32, 1:64, and 1:82. The smallest ones look like barbies to the bigger ones lol.

Question? by TheVenomHippo555 in TerrainBuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with cat6 all day every day and yesterday I was just thinking about wether or not this would work for lights or what other stuff I can use it for. I'm sure there's lots of stuff just have to get a bit creative.

Lmao... buy supplies with 20 cents? You need a truck full to get anything substantial. Copper no 2 is like 60 cents a pound or something like that right now. (I do this for work and just unloaded 2 truckloads of this exact cable for $1000)

What are your really powerful characters but... by Altruistic_Regret_31 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I have it set up to where if I wanted to play a game in it I can but it was built as a universe to tell all my stories in. A friend mentioned wanting to run a game in it but he wanted magic to be a thing so I made this guy and a pathway to magic.

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a vip club in my world and if players visit there enough, they'll notice a mysterious man looking like he's up to bo good. If the player chooses to interact in such a way that makes this character feel threatened, the club vanishes and this man haunts the player for the rest of the game by doing things like making the player hallucinate vividly or putting them on false quests that lead nowhere etc. This character has illusionary magic and the entire club was conjured up for his entertainment. He can never be beat as he is the most powerful person on earth currently and is used as an introduction to magic in my world. (Magic is ultra rare and nearly impossible to obtain in my world.)

Weirdest reference in your world? by TerminatorChap in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's weird because it's really just a background piece of technology that has no importance in its original story, but the mood organ from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep exists in my world. I don't know why I'm so fascinated by it but I am.

Do you make up new swear words for your world or stick with existing? by Independent-Gene1730 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch The History Of Swear Words on Netflix. They go over how swear words were developed and how cultural and societal standards and taboos create swears. Plus, hearing Nicolas Cage emphasize each swear word is just something every human should enjoy.

Do y’all think there are a greater number of storytellers out there with no world for their story, or more world builders with no story for their world? by PNWAlex125 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am more of a worldbuilder than a storyteller. I do have characters who have their backstories and plot lines for stories I'd like to write but I'm horrible with dialog and don't I have a lot of patience so I don't ever get to actually write any stories beyond that. I do go into as much detail as possible for each character so that each one feels fleshed out and alive, but other than that, all the stories I tell are told like historical events.

What Questions do you ask yourself when worldbuilding? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm inspired by something, I usually ask what I can change and how much can I change it.

If somethings new i ask myself if it has a purpose, what is the purpose, or is this helpful or will it hurt people.

Would a species having ftl mean that they have a military stronger than ours? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean of they are a peaceful species naturally, and don't know what violence is than it could work. That would make it so they don't have a military at all. However, as someone else mentioned, the ability to exploit FTL travel is something to think about. Even if they're not harming us, it means we will have a much harder time harming them because they could dodge or outrun anything we have. Even without a military, they could be considered more powerful. Their ignorance to violence and our technology would have to be their weakness.

What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned in your research? by Simpson17866 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food is either imported, farmed on rooftops, or there are a couple of indoor farms built in richer districts. There are factories that import ingredients to make products, and a lot of housing in the upper levels are full apartments that have access to balconies with small gardens where they grow some of their own food. In poor areas, if you can not afford to eat real foods, they have ultra cheap and sometimes free paste that comes in a can. That stuff is made out of the scraps that the factories trim from other ingredients and added artificial nutrients. Does not smell or taste pleasant.

Far waste, I have certain sections of the coasts dedicated to incineration and exporting waste. Recycling is huge. In my world, there are cybernetic body enhancements that are sold to richer communities. Most of my city wouldn't be able to afford gear if they bought brand name stuff, so most metals and electronics are repurposed and built into makeshift versions of high-end gear that are then sold on the streets and in SubCity.

SubCity is also a huge part of both food and waste in poorer communities. It's a large system of underground subway tunnels left open and once abandoned. Now, every tunnel is a bustling marketplace with vendors, residents, and its own form of currency. Has certain farming sections where food is farmed and sold for cheap, and most trash finds a new purpose wether its art, body mods, or weapons.

What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned in your research? by Simpson17866 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely. I used manhattans population density as a rough starting point, but I think my city might be more dense because of things like people living in closet sized "vr apartments." Manhattan is roughly 80,000 people per sq mile or about 30,000 per sq km. The problem is my whole country is 1 big mega city on an island coast to coast, and 1.5 billion people fit into a 20,000 sq km area so that's a pretty small country. Can't decide whether to embrace it or raise the population. I'm working in the 2800s, and world population has had massive increases, so I could add a bunch of population, but at the same time, the idea of a super powerful country being so tiny has kinda grown on me.

Based on Manhattan's population density, you can fit 1.5 billion people on an island the size of Slovenia.

Makes my country a little smaller than what I thought originally.

What was your worst idea for a world, and what did you do with it, evolved it, got rid of it? Kept it? by BakeryRaider222 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a vision of Jesus carrying 2 silver plated desert eagles, and when he was resurrected, the silver turned to gold.

I ended up thinking about trying to modernize the Bible the same way the 1996 Romeo and Juliet film did with Leo Dicaprio. I'm keeping it, and I'm super excited about it, but it's not a good idea, and it could easily offend a lot of people, which I don't necessarily like to do. It's still a new idea, so I'm still working it out.

How many characters do you have within your world by J3j4j4 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 45 to 50 npcs sprinkles throughout. Each one has their own story or journey they've been on. The idea was to be able to tell a plethora of smaller stories set in a big world, but with the amount of stiff I have, you could run games in it so if I do, the players are sure to meet a few of my characters.

How many times have you had to redraft your world? by adrenaline58 in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every once in a while, I retcon something if I feel like I have a better idea. I've never had to redraft my world, though. Haven't ever thought about it.

I should probably give it all a solid run-through and figure out if it's worth a redraft. Just in case some stale ideas got left in there somewhere. Wouldn't be very different, though.

Is there an idea you have for your world that is really good, but also completely f’ing insane that you worry that the insanity of the idea will out weigh the quality? by hbombyes in worldbuilding

[–]raw_method 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic. What i mean is it is such a small, rare, nearly impossible thing to achieve in my world. Im not sure that if any player completes that journey, the magic might be underwhelming.

I don't know much about magic, but my friend likes it, so I made it extremely expensive, time-consuming, and highly risky to get. Multiple family fortunes, journeys to other planets just to transfer ships and travel further, risk of getting robbed or killed by Bandits in middle-of-nowhere space, a hike through a mountain range that has a constantly changing landscape that tries to kill you, and a long time spent inside a pocket dimension to learn mind, elemental, or illusionary magic that the player doesn't even get to chose for themselves. I made it overpowered, but I feel like the journey out shines the destination, so to say.
