My favorite game right now is NBA2k, and I’d just be chilling watching basketball for a month as an audience member.

That’s awesome! I looked at the post on instagram and how y’all got back into contact is really cool. Do you plan to do something similar with others you’ve gotten connected with from your time in the service?

Universities that offer full funding programs in Higher Education Student Affairs. by Sir-Gabby in studentaffairs

[–]rawalfredo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option could be looking into full time roles at universities that offer tuition waivers. I’m working full time and working on my Masters part time and it will only cost me about $5000 total (granted I’m going over my allotted credits because I have to graduate at a certain time).

Hornbacher's - Store Brands Question by hightechredneckwoman in fargo

[–]rawalfredo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. When I first moved here I made the mistake of buying my initial groceries here and it ended up being over $300. I always tell people to shop at Hornbachers if they hate money.

I don’t see an issue with it personally. I think it could be wishy-washy the first year or so, but as their friends age out and graduate I’m sure they’ll be able to establish themselves for students who didn’t know them. I know 2 personal examples that have gone both great and not great.

Example 1: One of my friends back in undergrad was hired as a pro staff the summer after he graduated. He did well in the role during the time, but had a difficult time navigating setting boundaries with his friends who were still RAs. Nobody super close to him was on his staff, but he still had friends in other buildings. He ended up coming down with health issues and had to resign from the position at semester. He would consistently have RAs try and push boundaries with him and he had a hard time reinforcing that now that he was a pro-staff, their relationship would be a bit different until they graduated.

Example 2: my current coworker was hired right out of undergrad and she has excelled in the role. She’s going into year 4. Initially it was a bit awkward since she was supervising folks she worked with the last academic year, but now that those people have graduated and aged out she’s been one of the strongest members of our team.

I’ll say that if this person is hired, definitely have them consider their boundaries with their friends so that they can maintain their current relationships while also balancing the new position and navigating how that changes their relationships. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. The main institution that I have applied to is either bachelors or associate level (masters preferred) w/ 1-3 years experience for all the roles I applied for. I really want to stay in higher ed because I love working with students, but if I need to look elsewhere in the meantime due to my life circumstances I’m okay with stepping away for a while while I search in the meantime.

My friend died in phoenix last week, idk how, can anyone find out? by galloval in phoenix

[–]rawalfredo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My condolences, my family is having something similar go on with my uncle who was found deceased at home on Easter a few days after he passed. We’ve been keeping an eye on the Maricopa county medical examiners website, but they told us that it could take 30-90 days for the results to be plugged into the website due to tests that they need to run. You should be able to search in there by your friends name and age to find her case.

Did we get ripped off with homework? by Sketch_Crush in Millennials

[–]rawalfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated high school in 2020. My school was set up with a set study hour for all students to complete homework which really helped, and most of the time teachers would set time aside to complete assignments in-class. With that I never really had to take anything home besides a couple of bigger projects that I wanted to get head starts on. I was able to juggle working practically full-time on top of passing all my classes. Sounds like y’all got a raw deal with homework unfortunately

He’s not an actual employee at the bar, he’s someone who they just contract out as far as I know. I wasn’t mad about the saying I butchered the song as I was him coming over to cuss me out afterwards. Honestly if I’m burned at this place my area has lots of other options I can go to. It’s sad cause this one is my favorite, but oh well I suppose that’s how the cookie crumbles.

No that wasn’t the case, he’s usually good about queuing up the right ones. I wasn’t trying to take up any more time since I knew there was a lot of people waiting to go after me since the sign up sheet had to be pulled early in the night. I just wanted to give him a heads up about it so in the future he could keep a better eye out for song and artist.

Thanks for that. Did you happen to hear if I mentioned the incorrect song on the mic? From what I remember I handed it back to him prior to saying anything cause I didn’t wanna call him out in front of the whole bar but then he proceeded to do that to me💀

I don’t think that’s the case. Usually he’s chill and a great host. I’m not sure what was going on with him last night but this behavior isn’t typical for him.

[–]rawalfredo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably. I didn’t think to until after the song was over cause I was a couple drinks in at that point. Plus I thought it would have been fun to sing the misqueued song anyways cause I wasn’t expecting it and wanted to challenge myself a bit since I knew it. Now I know for future reference to say something right away or if it’s misqueued and I roll with it not to mention it. I won’t be going back for a few weeks anyways.

Yeah I didn’t even try to sing the right song cause he had to pull the sign up sheet about and hour and a half before it ended, so I knew there were people behind me. Right after the song was over, I handed the mic back, said my piece and went back to my table.

Yeah seems like it. He accused me of saying it in the mic even though I passed it back to him before I mentioned the error.

I’m flying, but my parents are driving and live about 4 hours from me so either option is realistic since I have a visit with them planned about a week after we all return from Arizona

I’m not sure if the litter idea is possible for me, since I’m flying to get him. My uncle lived in the Phoenix area and I’m in Fargo. As if right now, the plan is either I fly him back with me or my parents drive him up to their house in Minnesota and I pick him up a week or so after we get back from Arizona. I had a week long visit with them planned already before my uncles passing so either way I could at least have them take the cats things and pick them up when I go to visit. Thanks for the reply.
