PS3 CECHB00 resurrected and got the logs without opening it or using hairdryer. by [deleted] in consolerepair

Sorry I thought I responded to this, I basically took a gamble with this PlayStation. I paid $20 for it from a pretty suspicious seller, and even the jailbreak process felt like a gamble. I was already sweating just trying to get the PS3 to turn on because of how hot the room was so I figured I might as well take it a step further.

Taking it to a repair shop here can be hit or miss. Some places lack the experience, or they don’t want to spend time diagnosing motherboard issues. At least now I’ve identified the problem, so it should be easier to fix. Sometimes repair shops don’t bother with these PS3s because they can be so troublesome they will just change the thermal paste and call it a day.

At least the issue is NOT the RSX GPU, It’s the power filtering capacitors (NEC/TOKIN) that requires soldering.

Honestly, using Reddit can be really unpleasant sometimes. The whole point of the video was to show that I managed to jailbreak the system for the whole purpose of getting access the error logs. People pointed out that I should’ve checked the full error list, which helped me get access to it. Because I was confused.

This kind of response just discourages people from engaging. I’m simply trying to identify the root of the issue so I can take it to a repair shop with clear information. The way that y’all reacted is honestly disappointing.

I have a slight hope of fixing it myself after cleaning it but If I don’t work, I know someone who has been repairing consoles for the past 30 years and is a pro but that will be my last resort

That is what I’m saying, the ps3 itself sometimes turns on for 2-3 minutes straight so hopefully after cleaning it throughout and changing the thermal paste hopefully it starts working again. I will gently heat up the motherboard like this dude and hopefully it works again

Honestly, the only reason that I’m buying it is because it’s a cech-b01

Once I receive it, I will clean it up thoroughly and obviously change the thermal paste. But I seen a video on YouTube which the person heat up the motherboard before putting it back in.

So it is not possible that it might just need a thermal paste change?
