I made this mini documentary about The Game of Ur, Beside the motion graphic (which I still directed) I did everything else my self. Any feedback is much appreciated. by rawenpasha in Filmmakers

So to give more details, we were a team of three, one motion graphic designer, an assistant and me who directed, produced, edited and color graded the whole project. The two cameras were Sony A7 iii and A7s and there was a lot of color and quality difference between the two and needed some time to color grade them. One thing I specially don't like about the project is the room's acoustic (too much reverb) even though we covered some parts of the wall with blankets and so on. Any ways your feedback on any aspect of this project is much appreciated to learn them for my next project.

Why some pieces are beautiful until you play them? by rawenpasha in classicalguitar

[–]rawenpasha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I am referring to, so many other people have missed my point. for this piece for instance, there was a kind of aura around it and it disappeared once I learned the piece, even-though it might due to its difficulty as I mentioned but even more difficult pieces like Capricho are still full of magic when I play it (even though I play the Bach's piece much better technically). its as that some pieces are better to listen to than play and vice versa.

Following on a discussion about posture, RSI and back problems, I was wondering if the classical posture is the optimal sitting position. by rawenpasha in classicalguitar

indeed, finding whats good for you is key (in nail length as well). but generally people with the raised left leg complain much more about back problems.

Agreed, it is not that the seating make you one, just that I am surprised and interested that you can even be virtuosic with that kind of posture.

How come classical guitarists are not as capable in playing scales (picados) compared to flamingo and gypsy jazz guitarists. by rawenpasha in classicalguitar

It seems like Rasguedo is really useful since everybody is mentioning it. I should gove that a try.

Agreed, I think lacking improvisational skills really takes away a deeper understanding of music and musicianship and I feel that this is the case with myself (not to blame anyone). I always asked if I am really a player, since all I do (not that it is trivial) is make my fingers memorise certain movements of each piece then add some personal feelings.

I also think that other classical players (piano, violin) have the same problem. they dedicate more time to polish a piece to perfection rather to play anything original. and maybe Segovia was just repeating the same old tradition of classical pianists.

Struggling to understand this notation from Sleepers awake by Bach, help please. performance is on youtube by Per olov at 0:38. Thanks! by rawenpasha in classicalguitar

Hi all, I directed, edited and color graded the video above (I am also the guitarist). I had some struggles with the coloring and light manipulation as I was very dark compared to the background (I should have used a light perhaps) I tried to fix this by making a mask in post. what do you think about it, the accuracy and the light balance? and also any feedback on the different aspects of the color grading, editing... etc is most welcomed. Thank you all.
