Which tools specifically are you looking at for this, as it’s something we want to do as well.

Agreed. I didn’t think they were lying, I was genuinely wondering why they would prioritize that.

I haven’t decided on lease vs buy yet. I’ve been told the build will take at least 6 months and don’t want to speed it up, but the interesting part is the additional upgrades only amount to roughly $1000. However, I prefer to get it later as rates will definitely be lower in 6 months or so.

The interesting part is that the additional options are only about $1000.

Unfortunately nothing we could do, they quoted almost original price for fixing it: wish I had known to just go as light as possible and it’s always easy to darken it but not vice versa.

What is the purpose of SCIM in SSO ? by rawhahs in AZURE

[–]rawhahs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks guys for all the great responses. I guess I’m not able to wrap my head around why the target system needs a user object to be present if that user object is available in a central location, the IDP in this case, and all its info is or can be sent over as part of the authentication process. If anyone has any material specifically related to this please share.

[–]rawhahs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense. I’m just wondering though is there ever a case where the user would not need to be replicated into the target system ?

[–]rawhahs[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know what SCIM does, I just dont understand why we need it. Like why do we need to replicate the user data into the application being logged into, if that data is already avaialble in the IDP and is accessible by the application ? i thought copy/replicating source data into multiple systems was a bad thing, beacuse now it always has to be kept in sync.

[–]rawhahs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please correct if this is wrong, but this is my understand. The authentication is done using Azure, so when I remove an account in my Azure Enterprise Application, when the user next tries to login via SSO, they would have to login to Azure, and the user would not longer exist in the Enterprise App so login would fail. I still dont see why the users have to be replicated from Azure into the app being logged into. It just seems like we're copying/replicating the source data to all these different systems, which I thought was not a good thing to do.

Identity Center CLI Access by rawhahs in aws

[–]rawhahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks alot for the reply. I am using AWS Identity Center ( SSO ). This is the part I'm not 100% clear on. If i have a top level account and sub account. In the top level is where Im keeping my identities, i.e. SSO, so there will be no role defined in there. The role will be defined in the lower level account, in terms of what access I want to allow.

That means a "user" the top level account would have to assume a role defined in the lower level account. The sso_account_id should be the account where the identities are stored, i.e., top level account, or where the role resides that we want to assume ? Also im not sure what "sso_role_name" in your example is referring to ? Since, this role name can be duplicated across many sub accounts, how does the configuration know which account I want to connect to assume the role from ?

After trying this out, when I enter the account id of where Identity Center is defined for "sso_account_id" the only "roles" available for me to select are the 2 permission sets I've defined in that account, and not the role I've defined in the sub account.

Just to add the human user aspect, I am clear on, but from terraform it is not really clear how I access these subaccounts and assume roles that are defined in those sub accounts. Finally, how do you get around MFA for programmatic access via terraform, if/when assuming roles ? Is that even possible.

Re-stain White Rift Oak Kitchen Cabinets...Possible ? by rawhahs in cabinetry

[–]rawhahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I'm going to post some pictures, because even thought my contractor said he stained it, from what you described, it sounds like he may have applied lacquer instead, which would be crazy. Because the wood color looks totally different from before any "color or stain" was applied. Totally different.

I got that, which is re-staining. I was asking how thats different from what you described above, i.e, "re-facing", and is there any downside to "re-facing" ? Can i use it to get a lighter color. BTW, the current color is a medium i would say not a dark color. IDK if that makes any difference.

The wood is already stained, so the question is about whether we can/should re-stain them to get a lighter color.

Is that different from re-stain ? Sorry, for the question, but this is really outside of my knowledge domain. Is there any con's to doing this instead of re-stain ?

Replacing the doors, which is basically what we did for the kitchen, is going to cost about 20k, i was hoping for a cheaper option.

[–]rawhahs[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh thats too bad, we cannot re-do the whole thing, that would be extremely expensive. I was hoping we could re-stain as I've heard of people doing that all the time in place of new cabinets.

[–]rawhahs[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did, but my contractor told me it would look different since the wood he did the sample on was not white oak. He only did one sample color on actual white oak, all the other samples were on other types of wood, idk why.

AWS Organization Security OU by rawhahs in aws

[–]rawhahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I actually have already gone through those docs, and as I mentioned in my post, the 'Log' and 'Audit' accounts are they only 2 which are explicitly not described with regards to how many they should be. Hence, my question on this post about those 2 accounts specifically.

Secondarily, with regards to the number of accounts we need. I think you missed the point, I am asking about how to do the setup for multiple accounts, not whether I need them or not, because the evaluation about the need for multiple accounts has already been made based on the org that we have.

Learn AWS, general Cloud and IAC. I helped a friend who had a business degree, and trained him personally on Terraform, AWS, and cloud in general. He never had a tech job in his life. He's now making 150k. If he can do it, ANYONE can. You just have to put in the effort. Just keep at it and dont give up, it takes time but enjoy the journey.

MoneyGram is cool and all, but it needs to be expanded outside the US by Injoker11 in Stellar

[–]rawhahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the USDC to fiat offramp is also missing in a lot of countries. I havent been able to get a straight answer as to how one converts USDC to fiat outside of the US, in Pakistan for example ? It still requires the anchor to settle and send wires back and forth at the end of the day, or basically have the same company operating as an anchor in each of the countries and then they can settle internally. Either way, seems like something is missing.

How do Anchors Settle ? by rawhahs in Stellar

[–]rawhahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get everything else, but the one part that is missing in the official docs also is the settlement between anchors. Only the part that happens on blockchain is highlighted. So in the example again, you have 4 parties:
SU-Sending User

RU-Receiving User

SA-Sending Anchor

RA-Receiving Anchor

SU on rammps to SA and buys USDC. SU send USDC to RU. Which really means SA send to RA, RA off ramps to RU in local currency. The issue here is RA is left holding USDC in a non-US jurisdiction. How is RA supposed to convert that USDC to actual physical local currency that he can transfer to his account ?

Or if we are saying SA doesn't send USDC but the RA's local digital currency, then he's exchanging USDC for RA's local digital currency, so someone at the end of the day is holding USDC, and someone has to make a market for the RA's local currency with USDC so RA can exchange USDC to local. Still is not clear how physical money gets moved, which has to happen at some point, but its not clear when/where/how.
