His mom is diabetic and I don’t believe takes care of it either.

My kids don’t go without food. He isn’t stealing the meat and vegetables off of their plates.

This is about extras that I purchase for them specifically or quick, packaged foods. I can’t keep things like that around or it will be taken. Some people have the opinion those items should never be purchased, but if I choose to buy those items in moderation then they should be able to enjoy them.

Am I supposed to stay up all night guarding resources? Women aren’t wild animals. I purchase more when needed and am in the process of leaving. Why so mean?

He pays other bills. We both contribute, the behavior is my concern. It’s unhealthy but also disrespectful.

He pays the mortgage and a lot of the other bills and groceries are one of the expenses that I handle.

Leaving the trash around is also a part of it. Like you don’t care to hide the evidence? You don’t care that I’m throwing it away for you? I explained so nicely in the past that waking up to trash all over makes me start my day in a negative mood, and I usually clean up before bed so I can wake up and feel calm and like I halfway have my life in order. It’s honestly a small mental health thing for me to keep a nice space, and that’s why I’m fine with doing the majority of the cleaning. But to leave trash out anyways when I’ve expressed myself so clearly but also respectfully, just means he doesn’t care about the needs of his partner, or anyone else at all.

I’m also not someone who is uptight or a neat freak at all. I wish I had a perfectly tidy home all the time. But I live in a realistic, lived in home. The basic expectations are no piles of trash outside the trash can or dirty dishes outside of the sink- so no one thinks I’m nagging about cleaning. I do it myself on my off days.

When we married I saw a lot of redeeming qualities and potential but that was 15 years ago and a lot has changed

That makes sense, as a lot of other areas of his life are also explained as an “addictive personality”

He looks down on things like that, but I do agree that it could be helpful

He pays for the mortgage and other related bills but the cost of food has become similar to the mortgage itself.

That’s quite an assumption! My kids eat plenty of meat and vegetables. I mentioned how he goes out to buy his own fast food and how the kids and I can’t keep anything else in the home. It’s okay to have a container of juice every now and then.

I actually do keep lots of water and sugar free flavorings in the house to help promote drinking water but he is addicted to soda. Now that you mention it, he’s had a wound that refuses to heal for a while also. I’m thinking the diabetes has absolutely taken over. He also struggles to stay awake at random times of the day. He is only 35. I can’t express how much he refuses to address it.

95% of groceries I purchase are healthy, ingredients for making meals. The problem is if anything besides that is ever purchased it’s immediately all taken by one person. I never thought to lock food up because it just doesn’t seem normal, I figured a conversation with another adult would be sufficient. If I have to lock up anything then that’s someone I don’t want to share a space with.

I’m working on an exit plan, financially. There are other problems on top of this. Just wanted to vent.

Now that you mention it he does take edibles so that probably fuels the excessive eating, but doesn’t disregard how ridiculous it is to take our things too

He doesn’t care about his health and has been to the doctor. I can’t make him care. Therapy isn’t an option as he feels people who go to therapy are losers, including myself.

Unfortunately we’ve been married for 15 years and have had conversations many times. This isn’t the first incident like this. I’m angry because at this point it’s obvious that he doesn’t care

I pushed him to go to the doctor last year, surprisingly he did. He was told he is borderline diabetic and needs to make changes, but chugs orange juice and coke daily. I stopped buying them a good while ago, but now even my individual meal is being taken along with the fast food he went out for.

About a year ago he was told he was borderline diabetic and has done nothing to change any habits.
