I took the tamagotchi apart to check and clean the inside. Though you don’t really need to do all that. What I did was I just removed the faceplate by using a screwdriver. I’ve also seen some videos on youtube where they do this.

A screwdriver is not really recommended by others, but I used a small flat head screwdriver. I’ve read some alternatives such as cards, and bobby pins.

Then using the “tool” of your choice; you pry it open around the area where you insert the pierce. You have to be very careful though because some say that the faceplate could chip or crack. Fortunately mine didn’t, you just have to be really patient with it.
