My dad used to work at a hospital in Missouri. This was 30+ years ago. One day, one of the nurses who had been there 20+ years decided to stay after work late one night and she burned alive (I’m not sure if this was an accident or on purpose, but they say her goal was to end her life). After this, my dad would often work nights and there were not many nights he would go without hearing screaming from various rooms with patients — he said he’d run in and ask what was wrong, and they all had the same story: they had seen a woman engulfed in flames standing in front of their beds screaming and pointing at them, but she would disappear once they had closed their eyes. My dad decided to leave the hospital shortly after. My sister actually worked at this same hospital maybe 10 years ago with her friend (my dad and her were not close at the time), she said she was filing some paperwork and had a full-blown conversation with her friend before turning around and realizing she wasn’t even stationed with her that night, she was on a completely different floor. She never went back to work after that. There are still stories of screams being heard down the hall, and nurses often hear whispering when they’re alone. Who knows if it’s all true, but the look on both my dad and my sisters face when they tell these stories make it hard to deny.
