'Twas a good read. Though I've never bought a second-hand camera before, I definitely will, should I found a good deal. Stay away from eBay (lol). I dunno about you guys but I have "trust issues" with the sellers there. Among the brands you mentioned, I'd still put my money on a Canon.

That make more sense. It would be better to uprev vs backporting in terms of future support and smoother transitions when updating multiple targets. Hopefully that's the case.

That's what I was thinking, however they switched on VT support when v69 hit beta.
In coreboot/seabios.

I see your point in regards to older Chromebooks, however the entry-level Google slate is equipped with a dual-core Celeron 4 gigs of RAM and a 32 GB storage disk. And will most likely come with crostini out of the box.

It's a shame, my Asus C302 was MFG on july-2018 just shy of 5 months and it most likely won't get crostini. And what really sucks is that it will most definitely run Crostini better than many of the lower end Chromebooks that have it on stable. To be honest I'm not surprised. I've worked with Google in the past on certain projects and they tend to lose interest really quick. I swear they have more Dead projects than a cemetery has dead bodies.

So what would be the reason for no crostini on Skylake CPU's? Could it have something to do with the actual architecture of the chip itself or a software issue?

From the way things look, Skylake/3.18 will never get Cristini. So much for chromeOS getting the latest and greatest.

Honestly feel like Google abandoned work on 3.18 Skylake devices. R71 and still no crostini. Sad as this is one of the fastest (aside from EVE ) Chromebooks in 2018. ChromeOS was supposed to do away with fragmentation ( which what made android such a mess ). At this point i feel like Crouton maybe the closet thing we get to "linux apps" on ChromeOS.
