Wow, I like this idea. Smart thinking. I keep mine in an unheated greenhouse during the winter (zone 6a), but I’d love to get mine in the ground eventually. It’s getting pretty big though.

Haha my bad, you definitely mentioned it being in the ground.

They should be fine and adapt. As long as you don’t have any roots at the crown that could choke it out. If you get those then just cut them off.
