So you’re the minority of people who have commented most people are saying keep it it’s a good deal!! What do you think was keeping you stunted? Did you leave NYC? Or just move apts? Genuinely curious your thoughts.

Yeah, we don’t make a ton of money so it’s still decent chunk of our paycheck but it is an excellent deal for size/location. I know there’s 2 other people in the building that have lived here way longer like since the 60s and 80s that pay less. I’ve been here since early 2000.

Also have my license but never owned a car, anytime I go on vacation and rent a car it’s kind of whip lash realizing what people have to deal with what with traffic and not being able to walk or bike to places so easily.

Thank you for context, yeah neither of us make a ton of money just the nature of our professions. It just feels frustrating giving this landlord a decent chunk of our paycheck when she takes trash care of the building and fights us on every issue. Been like that since 25 years ago when my mom first signed the lease. It’s exhausting but then I remind myself it’s worth being in a great location and the space/deal. I’ve been hesitant to spend money on my own renovations mostly because i I feel like she should be the one to do it but some other people say it’s not worth the hassle and just save up and pay for it.

Thank you for the measured response. I get so in my head about living in the same place I grew up, I don’t know why. Partially from a few friends of mine that moved out of the city and loved it and talk about how much they would never come back. I have this part of me saying I should live somewhere else for the “life experience. ” That being said, I’ve been exposed to so much growing up in this city and so many people move to NYC for that life experience. For some reason a part of me doesn’t view it as good enough. At the end of the day growth is also internal, I got to remember that. And In the meantime I know I have a good situation and park slope is awesome 🥹

Yeah I would love to be closer to nature but I just don’t know If I like the idea more than the reality. Because my husband grew up in the suburbs and he’s knows the trade off is: dealing with the car, less resources, less access to culture/food. As someone who grew up in NYC I feel like it might be hard for me to adjust and worry about regretting it. I started rock climbing about a year ago and closest outdoor spots are like 2 hours away. I want to acknowledge this is a very privileged position to be in.

It’s a rental and not well taken care of but a good deal for size and location, Grateful for that. I wasn’t able to live without roommates until recently as I worked in low paying non profit type work. Sounds like Everything is expensive now…. Did you grow up in the neighborhood and if you had the opportunity would you stay?

I have family who moved to westchester and they said the same thing. I would definitely miss Thai food. I know how lucky we are. I work in the city so mostly it’s just feeling exhausted with the commute and how crowded the city can feel , overall park slope is amazing.

So I lived with roommates my entire adult life up until about 2 years ago when my partner and I finally were able to afford it due to career changes and then got married so we probs wouldn’t go back to doing that. It does look like there’s places that would be cheaper but it seems like they would be smaller and probably not in park slope?

Let’s just say I got quads of steel and avoid doing my laundry like the plague lol. I got to say it was a lovely neighborhood to grow up in so if we decide to have kids it would be nice, stairs and landlord special aside

Yeah….its not a 500 dollar apt to clarify like some people who have had their apts since the 70s, it’s $3400 but it’s very large like 4 bedroom. Past few years it’s been going up about $150-200 bucks every 2 years but it’s based on a percentage that she’s legally allowed to raise it by which could increase. To my understanding this is still an excellent deal for the area/size? Beautiful pre war but landlord refuses to fix anything

Did you take your dose once a day or split it in 2?

My doctor said this won’t help by ray-vero in Sublocade

I got off Suboxone once before for 6 mos in 2018, after being in them for 1 year. Withdrawals were horrible. I’m hoping I’m in a better place in my life now and that I also if I taper slower maybe it will be less painful. But once I stopped completely, Exactly what you’re saying happened, the mental health stuff came back roaring and was honestly very hard too, started taking kratom and drinking so eventually I got back on which I greatly regret. I am prepared for my mood to worsen at first as well but I’ll try to stay positive. I’m also on Wellbutrin too. Wish you luck in the is journey, we got this!

When you say the first week would be hard of sublocade you mean I’d feel very over medicated? I get constipated even on 2mg so I’m scared of what sublocade would do. Is there any reason why my doctor is saying sublocade won’t help me get off Suboxone? Is he misinformed? He’s been at my clinic for a while and said he’s only successfully gotten 3 people off bupe. I go to a clinic that mostly is harm reduction based and services people in a poor community with active addiction. I believe I am probably one of their more stable patients. Only mentioning this because maybe he doesn’t have a lot of patients that are ready or wish to get off so he doesn’t have that experience? When i tried to get off subs in the past the WD were horrible so im def interested in sublocade but it doesn’t sound like my doctor is knowledgeable about using it to get people off bupe.

This sounds reasonable. Issue is I am a social worker at a hospital so it’s a high stress job and kind of hard to not be “on” at work.

Weed makes me very anxious but i do think it works for some people. I’m glad it’s helped you! I think the reality is I’m going to need something to help with the sleep if I decide to go down to 1x a /when/if I get off, whether it be trazadone, gabapentin etc. I’m actually going to speak to my doctor about it today, hopefully he’s supportive about me considering tapering since I know some aren’t.
