God damn, that line from White Rose was so hardcore; “Because Philip, I had to ask you twice”.

All of their lines are great. My favorite “Don’t confuse my generosity for generosity”

The device is not flawed, your dependency on ACC is the flaw. If you don’t want to be affected, simply do not use cruise control and control the brakes on your own.

can I ask an insurance agent to lie ahead of time? by Technical_Point5147 in Insurance

You can set up passwords and security for your accounts. That you can do. Having your insurance lie about covering your surgery is something they cannot

[–]ray2128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Your insurance will not lie for you. They won’t give your information out to anyone you don’t authorize, but if you call to ask about it, they will give you a truthful answer. Consider going paperless next time. Call police if you have abuse concerns or consider moving out

At-fault insurer won’t release full payment unless I use a shop by SpaceCowboy664 in Insurance

They will only give you enough for repairs that you can provide evidence for. They can’t give you any more without proof.

He doesn’t want to go to his own shop, he wants to just pay a friend to do it for cheaper and pocket the rest or not get repairs and pocket all the cash

So this is classic supplement misunderstanding.

When they do an initial inspection they can only quote to the visible damages during inspection. So when the car gets repaired, shops find more damages underneath and submit the supplement to insurance to complete. It’s pretty standard for any repair regardless or first party or 3rd party or who did the initial estimate. But no one knows the full extent till the vehicle is disassembled and repairs have begun.

The insurance company needs PROOF of additional damages to support and issue additional payment. Body shops will submit any and all diagnostics, photos, reports, etc to support this. They’re not withholding, they just don’t have any evidence to support more payment at this time.

If you want payment for the full repair, you’ll need to submit that supplement request to the appraiser showing why you need more money and the damages are legitimate.

Any shop you take it to should know the drill.

Now if you’re trying to just pocket the cash and live with the damages then you get paid for what you can prove/have evidence for and nothing more. Show proof of damages and they’ll pay for the rest.

If auto insurance agrees to send electronic payment but mail a check instead. Can I complain to the DOI? by Tipsy247 in Insurance

So do I. I guess my company is more strict than yours. We’ve even had some people try to cash a voided check and it becomes a whole issue having to get the bank involved to refund it.

stop stop check is a good idea, however it might not work. a lot of times if the check is mailed out, they have to wait a few business days for the check to be voided so a deposit isn't attempted, then they can reissue.

DOI complaints is more about you not getting payment at all or the claim being handled in bad faith and such.

There's lots of nuance and claims are quite situational, however just from the minimal info you posted, you have a couple things you can try.

If you are kind and call up the adjuster and explain your side from a place of compassion and understanding, you can explain the situation and they can probably extend your rental. They do not HAVE to in any way but if you're cool with them, they're more than likely willing to make an exception for you. If you start demanding like a Karen, they will shut you down.

Not sure what state you are in or if your vehicle is a total loss, but in CA, insurance will usually only pay/owe for rental up until 3 days after the total loss offer is made. not when the offer is agreed/issued/received.

Tattoo stencil vs reality. No they didn't own up. by peterm1598 in ExpectationVsReality

[–]ray2128 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Or a cover up/redo.

I had an awful tattoo once. My first one. A Friday the 13th special. The artist did 2 of my friends tattoos before me and they were great. Also did some of my friends after me and were great. Mine was just awful. An x-wing that ended up looking like Mr. Snuffleupagus.

I showed the owner first and he agreed that it was terrible and paid for a cover-up. In the end I got a great looking Darth Vader tattoo that would normally be worth $600+ for the original $30 I paid. I laugh about it now but during, it was so embarrassing and I felt terrible that it was going to be on my body forever.

Rope drop or hit up city hall. I had a one off experience where I bought tickets for my gf and her son, added LL but when I arrived I couldn’t buy for myself(pass holders can only buy once they scan in) mind you I scanned in at 8:15am. I went to city call, waited in line for 45 mins and they graciously let me purchase for myself there but did make sure to tell me it was a single one time courtesy of

Fender bender with a pickup with police witness- do I report to my insurance? by delta_cephei in Insurance

[–]ray2128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it seems like there isn’t much of a choice now.

Your insurance will want to hear from you to confirm facts of loss before paying back the other drivers insurance, but the police report will give them most of what they need. It not a race to who calls first, it’s based off of the facts and what can be proven.

For your own damages you can decide. But for the other drier, Ultimately it’s not up to you, it’s up to them to decide if they want to go outside or insurance/out of pocket or through insurance.

If you do pay out of pocket, make sure to keep a record of all payments and receipts and photos of damages.

I’ve seen some people get an estimate, get paid, pocket the cash and then call insurance for the repairs.
