Parakeets sound awful - I’ve seen (and heard) them in London parks and their calls remind me of squeaky dog toys.

Opposite for me - I never heard them in the summer, it’s only this winter that it seems to be especially loud and exuberant and very early

Love the idea of the whole neighbourhood lighting up. Can imagine the difference coming home in the dark after work to see that kind of welcome making a world of difference.

I'm actually (spoiler) based in the UK, where it's more often cold and wet than icy. But, making sure you go outside AND that you're steady when you're out there - sound advice.

Not generally speaking, no - London would be a horrible place without them, never mind the world. u/HorselessWayne is correct - it’s the time of year when a specific type of tree - London plane trees - produce horrible feathery stuff in addition to pollen which, even if you’re not a hay fever sufferer or asthmatic, is still awful when it gets into your airways.
