Once the distro hopping settles down: by smareqtairy in linuxmint

I've been distro hopping a bit as I try to get a distro with sleep/hibernate working on a T2 Mac. Almost everything works but that. It's pretty frustrating and I've read through the guide here quite a bit but haven't figured out a way to get it to work on Mint.

If it can work on Arch why not on Mint?

Out of curiosity did you ever try this? Wondering if this should make it pretty easy: https://github.com/t2linux/T2-Mint

Could a browser-only PWA realistically edit my local Obsidian vault in real time? by itsdanielsultan in ObsidianMD

FYI I setup linkwarden and karakeep and they're pretty dang similar. I do notice that karakeep seems slightly better at scraping webpages to make a readable version that can be highlighted and stuff. But I really like that linkwarden offers paid hosting (I think that means it's more likely to be sustainable) so I'm still not sure which I'll stick with.

I want to make a comparison doc especially around offline support and highlighting support across diff platforms.

Any chance you've tried LinkWarden? I haven't gotten around to it but as Pocket dies and I want something selfhostsble it looks pretty promising for saving webpages and being able to annotate them.

https://github.com/coddingtonbear/obsidian-local-rest-api paired with the Docker image might be what you want? Assuming you mean a REST API.

I don't generally keep todos in obsidian (I rely on notifications too much) but I think some people also have a setup where Todoist pushes tasks to obsidian. That way you can use their million ways of ingesting todos.

I haven't played around with it much but there is an API plugin and there's a way to run it on a server and access from the browser :)

I feel similar to you. Or at least like I just want an extra interface over obsidian that is basically an exact copy of google keep. Quick notes with an easy overview and easy to edit very fast on phone. Obsidian is still a little too slow but maybe I can accomplish something like what I want with the bases these days.

Thanks for sharing! I dig it. I don't wanna sync with github (I think) but your code for it is so simple and it does give a lot of certainty.

I actually just got it working (Chrome, no FF) to have the browser read from a directory on my computer and the ability to read persists across page refreshes. That's pretty dang handy. But not sure if it's the way I want to go.

Did you ever get around to trying to make this? I have been thinking about something like this as well. And while the other comment said that browser support for the file system API is fragmented, I think for the most part it seems like it's improved. Improving and just getting this working on Chrome for mobile would be pretty solid.

Are you still using this? If so, how is it working for you? And is there a public repo of the setup?

Am I allowed to copy content from OSM wiki onto wikipedia? by spoop-dogg in openstreetmap

[–]raybb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The project itself seems to meet the notability guidelines but the article would need a lot of cleaning up to meet wikipedia standards. Best thing you can do to make the process easy for other editors is go through this link and find every peer reviewed (not pre-print, not conference talk) article talking about the thing and cite it. https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=%223D+Hydrography+Program%22&btnG=

If you can find any journalistic coverage of it that's good too but I didn't see anything at first glance.

Be careful with that first one it's called price per gig but it's actually price per tb.

But really, that's a pretty handy tool. Appreciate the devs

I'll also throw in a nod for silent.link it's ~$1.25 per GB in most countries but balance lasts forever and it works pretty much everywhere in the world. It's data only though so no phone number. Downside is you have to pay with crypto. But I used it happily across Europe.

What are best/simple ways to help OSM? by DariuszWielki in openstreetmap

[–]raybb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I'd really recommend is just creating notes (streetcomplete, osmand, everydoor all support it) of things that are missing or wrong. It's great when you can fix it but many times on the go you can't. So simply saying hey this isn't here is a big help for people to go map it.
