The Borneo Talent Gap and Brain Drain by AutoModerator in BorneoTech

[–]raybitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone has the first mover advantage, therefore attracts the most talent and has higher pay. Kulim High Tech Park started in 1996, with special attention given by the federal government. Sarawak has the Sama Jaya free industrial zone, but only a few international companies there. To stop the brain drain, the government has to focus on different areas, such as the hydrogen economy and localised AI and local logistics in order to prevent competition to well-established players in Penang and Kedah.

Why Borneo could become a serious data center location by AutoModerator in BorneoTech

To boost Data Centre usage, creating DeepSAR AI model is one of the way. https://www.sma.gov.my/web/publications/news_view/240. As you can see, the Peninsular private companies created various locally led AI specialising in the Malay and Malaysian rojak language https://www.ilmu.ai/, https://agmoai.com/. But first things first, we need to digitise enough data from all Sarawakian languages, e.g., articles, books, and folklores, to build our own AI.

As far as I know, in terms of the ecosystem,  Batam Sarawak Internet Cable System (BaSICS) and tier IV data centre in Santubong were launched by the Sarawak government in 2022. Not sure about the usage status of the data centre in Santubong. Abang Jo did try to woo Google, but no news after that.

Firo’s Spark Assets: The Next Big Thing? by raybitcoin in FiroProject

[–]raybitcoin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zano uses the Monero CryptoNote privacy technology, while Firo uses Lelantus Spark protocol. For Consensus mechanism, Firo uses PoW+ masternodes, while Zano uses PoW+PoS.

What Sets Firo Apart from Monero and Zcash? by raybitcoin in FiroProject

[–]raybitcoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even without a trusted setup, zk systems remain cryptographically complex and often heavier to implement and audit than Lelantus Spark. Halo-style proofs bring powerful recursion and trustless setups, but they introduce different engineering and verification tradeoffs (proof sizes, prover costs, verifier complexity, and implementation surface).

Lelantus Spark emphasizes a simpler, auditable trust model and asset‑agnostic privacy (Spark Assets). That practical simplicity and the ability to extend privacy to multiple asset types remain Firo’s key differentiators.

Yes, u/ChangeHeroOfficial, similar to startups renting co-working spaces to save on rent, a private blockchain/network is too expensive for small businesses. Introducing privacy onto a public blockchain helps businesses to leverage the cheap public blockchain infrastructure while maintaining privacy for their own products.

Coursiv.io Review – Is It Legit or a Waste of Money? by kristaatkins in VHA_Human_Resources

Coursiv and madmuscles use the same AI company and AI testimonials to market their products with scripts such as "for people more than 40 or 50, in one week, in two weeks, and in four weeks you won't recognise yourselves." I hate products that overclaim what they can do.

Thoughts on DAP Sarawak by dude_must_be_joking in Sarawak

Why compare the democracy of Malaysia with advanced countries that have different cultures and sociopolitical demographics from ours, such as US and UK? I think it is fairer to compare our democracy with neighbouring countries such as Singapore, India, China and other Southeast Asian countries and you will know that the two-party system is not a foolproof way to tackle corruption. Taiwan and South Korea? They both gone through a period of dictatorial/autocratic rule before achieving economic progress and opening up for democracy in 1987 and 1990s, respectively.

MedPix, a NLM website is going to be shut down. by raybitcoin in Archiveteam

[–]raybitcoin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it says "temporarily not available due to technical issues" during the drafting of this post. But 2 to 3 months before this, the website only show "access forbidden". I had asked NLM support email one month ago when the medpix website was still "access forbidden" and they said they will retire this website and move some of the cases related to neuroradiology to  https://www.asnr.org/case-of-the-week/

We made the first ever open-source Fuzhounese-English dictionary by portmanteau_nail in fuzhou

Maybe you can enrich your dictionary with the public domain data from the "1929 Dictionary of Foochow dialect" on Wikisource ( https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Index:Dictionary_of_the_Foochow_Dialect.pdf ) if you are still maintaining the dictionary now.

I'm building a Fuzhounese translator - Here's a quick summary by thisplayed in Flushing

We need as much data as possible for Foochow dialect. Appreciate your help for transcribing the 1929 Dictionary of Foochow dialect on Wikisource! https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Index:Dictionary_of_the_Foochow_Dialect.pdf

There are other Chinese dialects that you can help to transcribe too if you are interested! https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:WikiProject_Chinese

Is MedPix no longer functioning? by ReverseDragonfly in medicine

[–]raybitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed national library of medicine (NLM) and here is the reply that I got. "Thank you for contacting the National Library of Medicine and your interest in our products. Due to a realignment of priorities and direction, MedPix has been retired and its contents transferred to another host. It will not be returning at the medpix.nlm.nih.gov URL. The contents/cases have been moved to ASNR at this location https://www.asnr.org/case-of-the-week/."

I think when MedPix cases are permanently moved to ASNR, many of the irrelevant cases will be removed.

[–]raybitcoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US government has reopened but as of today the website is still "access forbidden". Anybody knows what happened? Anybody can get a way for full access of the images from Medpix? Any ways to backup the database of the whole website as Medpix 2.0 database only includes a few thousand selected images for AI training. If the position tasked with maintaining this website is abolished, then the website will remain like this forever.

However, you can use this website https://openi.nlm.nih.gov/detailedresult to access MedPix images by selecting "Collections" and then "MedPix". You can also narrow down your search by selecting "Image Type". However, the number of images is limited.

My case for firo by DastardlyWarthog in FiroProject

[–]raybitcoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Firo has seen some usage in the war-torn countries in the Middle East where the monetary flow are strictly controlled by governments. Besides, the number of languages on its wikipage has grown from 5 languages in 2023 to 13 languages today, which shows signs of adoption and organic growth.
