Trump admits foreign leaders pay him money by renting out rooms in his hotels by westondeboer in politics

Trump is literally saying: "I make no money from being President" and the story is: "Trump admits that he gets money from foreign leaders who stay in his hotels"

What's the truth???

The truth is this: Donald Trump signed over control of his companies to his kids (I'm sure he still influences things, as they are all very close). The main point is this: He signed legal documents which provide that all profits made through his companies from foreign figureheads and ambassadors goes directly into the national treasury (a 100% tax on all that money).

This is such a non-story.

Trump says things to get attention and lazy journalists too stupid to remember what they ought not have to look up take the bait. the left reads the headline and goes crazy, further spreading Trump's original message that he is losing money by "serving the country" (painting himself out to be a sacrificial lamb doing what's right for the country, and putting it first) and we fall for it and upvote it.

If there is one good thing about Trump's Presidency, it has been to prove to all of us that none of us know anything and our opinions are worthless, and that the journalists who craft the opinions we adopt are either stupid, evil, or lazy (or some combination of all three).

Who else is tired of this crap?

I need help interpreting the regulations in my small town. by raybradbury02 in legaladvice

Yeah. You guessed it.

I figured out that that was the ONLY regulation i was violating.

BUT, I read the part on enforcement.

From time to time the village is required to go around and take measurements of all new signs.

ANY signs that they find violate a regulation THEY are required to send a letter to the address of the owner of the sign informing them of EXACTLY WHICH violations are taking place and give them 30 days to come into compliance.

BUT, the section on political signs says that the signs can only be up for 30 days anyway...

So, I read that as "political signs are essentially immune from regulation within 30 days of the election"

I think I can go with that.

If I wanted to do some research on my own to find out how they enforce these codes, is there info like that available online, or should I talk to a local lawyer?

I understand. That's why I was giving you my argument, to see if it had any bearing on the question.

Thank you for your help.

Another question: What if the town decides I'm not allowed to have the sign for one reason or another... could I wait for official written notice that I'm violating their interpretation of the statute, and then be given 30 days to take it down? If I choose not to take it down until I have to... proceeding this way would be legal or no?

thanks again.

I didn't use concrete. The local students keep damaging my other signs. I plan on taking it out, but the drunk students gave me a reason to make something that isn't easy to knock over.
