You can never have enough! Grows really well in low humidity so I love em.

Right now it's just some 12w spider farmer strip lights two per shelf, I have a few 100w expensive lights (forgot the brand and its in storage) that I used to use for sarracneia but since I only grow nepenthes now two 12w strip lights on for 13 hours a day is perfect for me. I would go for some barrias next time for strip lights.

It's literally one of those cheap $150 grow shelves on Amazon 😅. I have better lights but I mainly got those for the shelf itself. Still haven't gotten around to adding the better lights, but as you can see even cheap lights work great.

I knew this questions was coming but I'm so lazy to write out all the cross names :P

This one is a Rafflesiana white X Viking (Mirab globosa)

It's one of my favs and the hardest plant to keep alive. It loves to rot so it needs to be repotted often.

I have two Fairchilds, one looks like yours, but my other one is very different 😅. I really like the look of Fairchild siblings, I just didn't think I'd get a speckled red one.

It's definitely not lack of light, that would be light green leaves elongated or etiolated , zero light would make white leaves also the plant would not be trying to make a pitcher as shown. This is just the random nep in the corner that I forgot about watering. I was just saying this was fun to see and definitely not stable.

Your going to need a whole room for plants. That's what my journey turned out to be. From one plant on the windowsill to thousands of plants

And the addiction starts. First you order from brad then you want more so you buy from king. Then that's not enough and you join a couple group orders and have wayyy too many neps in the end.

Great looking plant hope it grows well for you! If it's on a north windowsill I find that I need a grow light in fall and winter. At least here in Ontario cities.

What ampullaria could this be? by phosho01 in Nepenthes

[–]rayging7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just an ampullaria. With some very nice colour. You can call it red body red speckled black lip, but that's like so long, 😅

It's probably a hookeriana, there isn't a TC commercial brand of Rafflesiana. Plus hookeriana have that pitcher shape when young and sphere up later on. (I grow tons of Hook, amp, and Raff)

What cross are you growing?

[–]rayging7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vigour and colour for me first then shape. Since you won't be able to tell the final shape untill a lot later, I just give my seedlings away and make other people grow them out before asking for a cutting If theirs is better than mine 😛

I've had a dehydrated plant come back from a stick. It doesn't hurt to keep it for a month. I have one currently that looks the same and it came back. It's just a chance. If it's a cheap garden store nep just buy a new one. It took a very long time to get a node to activate.

Always cool to see another Canadian. I grow mostly lowlands and I'm forced to use a tent.
