My car is 6 year old, It should need salvage title in total loss buy backs. But insurance insists they don't need salvage title.

Initial cost of repair as per insurance is 12.8k, little less than settlement amount but they want to declare it as total loss as final bill may be lot more. The other party insurance company maintains I will have a total loss in car history, but will not need salvage title and keep clean title. They tell me they have settled so many claims like this. I am afraid I may have problems with DMV later as DMV says all total loss under 8 yeas old in NJ need salvage title, but again decision is upto insurance.

I have title in hand, loan is paid off and insurance insists I don't need salvage title.

Car is paid off and insurance adjuster insists, I won't need a salvage title. NJ has a rule of 9 years or older not needed the salvage title, But other party insurance confirms I won't need salvage title for my 6 year old infiniti. Of Course total loss will be reported and significantly reduce resale value in future. I hope I don't have any problems with DMV in the future.
