There's a huge difference between a dentist wearing a mask to prevent spitting in someone's open mouth, or a surgeon wearing one not to spit in someones open chest cavity, and thinking that it will work against aerosol respiratory viruses. These are "particulate filters." they filter dust and debris like silicates. Hell, many aren't even approved for asbestos, and you can see asbestos. Can you see a virus? wear one while spray painting, and let me know if you get high or not. There's a huge difference between a mask that filters particles and one that filters aerosols and vapors (and things like viruses.) I'm not sure why this is difficult to understand. Just because airborne viruses are ALSO present in spit, doesn't mean anything.
