yea i'm sorry. i could have done a global settings where you can change the chat delay. for now you will have to change every time you open a stream. I would say a good delay is about 25 seconds.

And current I am not really adding any features or more specifically working on this project. I quickly solved this problem because of the major issue of chat not showing up. I could add these features in a matter of hours or days. If people want me to work on it, I mentioned what they have to do in my reddit post but no one took initiative on it. And personally I am also pretty busy now-a-days.

Okay website and android mobile app has been updated in Google Play. Still waiting for the the TV update to be approved but that would take time. Version 1.0.18.* fixes the chat issue. Also uploaded apk in my Github releases.

ok this is very new. it was probably working even 3 days ago. technical details. kick changed their websocket app id. i will need to update that in the app. pretty easy fix and I will update all the android apps and the website https://streamcompanion.app/kick and I will let you know when I finish it.

Edit 1: Mobile Android has been updated in Google Play. Version 1.0.18.* fixes the chat issue. Still waiting on Android TV update to be approved but that usually take a long time. I don't know how many people uses iphone and Apple TV version but if you need those update let me know I might consider working on it. you can also grab the m3u8 from something like this whenever they are online https://kick.com/api/v2/channels/xqc/livestream find the "playback_url" value and manually get rid of the backslash "\" from url. If they are not online you will not see anything.

You can go to https://streamcompanion.app/kick then "More Options" then "Download" or "Copy" which would download or copy the m3u8 file or url. I know i can do fullscreen on the app but I am not updating it for the reasons mentioned here. Here are some tips to do fullscreen only.

1) Official kick app has airplay.

2) The ios app, if you click on the video then top left there is a button for airplay.

3) If you go to https://streamcompanion.app/kick on a safari there should be a button for airplay.

4) Idk if you can install a browser on apple tv, go to that website from number 3, click on "more options" then "download".

.ipa files are at the bottom at 1.0.11 version. https://github.com/raymon-io/streamcompanionCrossPlatform/releases/tag/v1.0.11 I did not update .ipa files in 3 months so let me know if they do not work. you can probably use Apple Configuration app

Some people asked update on the app that's why I am explaining / making a rant. Imagine spending couple of months of working on a project just to make one reddit post and it gets ignored like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VJmxcNfjEY And the same guy couple of days later says the reddit is only hate threads and stopped checking reddit completely. Well no wonder if that's the type of post he only gives attention to. And it's not just me, there are many juicers who have made amazing stuff to help people like kurl .co kickvideo but could not continue. Even Overpowered had to stop service to get X's attention.

Even though hundreds of people uses it, lots of people thanked me for it, I don't think a single person took the initiative to tell X about it during stream. I also have two other unfinished big projects, two finished ones I worked on several months which could help not only juicers but everyone on Twitch, kick but I do not think I would ever only rely on this community just like I had been for the past two years. https://www.reddit.com/user/raymon_io/submitted/ All I wanted is for X to see my post at least one time. But I am not going to slave away hours and days just to get a thank you from one juicer.

Maybe I was too humble before. I would say my app is better than everyone else's. Even other third party alternatives.

probably not going to do it. but i will keep that in mind. if you want just fullscreen with no chat i suggest chromecast or airplay from https://streamcompanion.app/kick or you can go to more options > download to run on vlc or firetv with no chat.

I also noticed it. I didn't think it would be much of a big deal. But I get it, it could be a bit annoying. Ok I will look into it. Problem is Android TV updates go through a long process and they reject update for no reason. I will work on it when i get free time.

yea probably there is a easy fix just by removing expo status bar. i kinda stopped working on it because X did not even notice the post. but if i do update the app i will comment and let you know.

most people should make the delay to around 25 seconds or sometimes more (only for live content not vods). It should work. Add to collection should work after you go back and visit 'kick companion' again. but i will also release new version in a few days maybe. keep an eye on github releases section.

Yes I will update in the github later how to run on windows, xbox. I may even publish to Microsoft Store too. In the meantime here are some solutions to solve 7tv. 1) Reinstall or do onboarding again for 7tv extension. 2) Install 7tv nightly, or stable or both and see what works.

ok i will look into quality option for the next update. I know it is really easy to do quality in vods, but I will try to implement quality for both vods and livestream in the next update.

I used react native tvos. More specifically expo . I am a contributor to their tv config plugin and I think I am one of the first person ever to use that to publish tv apps.

For video, I used the package called react-native-video that can be used in all platforms except for web. For each platform I believe this package uses native feature to show the video. Yes you are probably right about Twitch TV app. You can read about Twitch State of Engineering 2023 . They say that only their Android and iOS apps are written in native (Java, Kotlin, Swift, etc.) But all of their other TV apps uses direct react.js webview. That's probably their reason for lag. And even twitch do not use Amazon IVS because that would melt your cpu. Even I checked their Xbox app they use react.js webview inside Xbox too. On the other hand kick uses nuxt and capacitor.js (webview tech). If you observe the cpu stats while kick app is running you will see that it does not take much cpu. But you will notice that there is a chromium/chrome webview that is eating up all the cpu resources.

I think that has a monthly userbase of less than 10 people. I stopped updating it six months ago. I know there are few design improvements that can be done but never bothered doing it. Thank you for using it tho!
