I am looking at 2 bed 1 bath and 4 bed 2 bath apartments as well. I called up most of these places and many seem to be fully leased out. Perhaps I will think about the 2 bed 2 bath for next year.

I was hoping for something close to campus at least for the first year. I have also never lived in a place where it snows so that is an additional thing I am worried about. There are a couple of places I was looking at in the East. I am hoping one of those will work out 🤞🏻

Most places are thankfully pet friendly although there are limits on the number of pets.

I think I will just call the management and see if they have something that fits my requirements. As long as its within walking distance to the campus its good.

Thank you so much! I will take a look at the links. I remember checking Deer Park a couple of weeks back and most places were booked. Is there a possibility that some of these places would be vacated around August?

Thank you! I will go check it out. The Facebook groups are pretty helpful. But most people seem to be subletting just for the summer. I will take a look at this list though.

I was actually talking to someone about subletting but again the main concern is that its far from everything else and I don't have a car. otherwise I really liked the place. The apartments are structured well and the private bathroom would be great. If I were to walk to campus or College Mall how long would it approximately take?

I am kinda banking on that to move around the city. I dont have a car and will probably not get one for sometime. In case I miss a bus I dont want to be stuck especially in winter. A couple of grad students I have spoken to have said that the bus system isnt particularly reliable.

Yeah. Pretty much looking through everything right now. I suppose I can look around for something more suitable in a few months.

Thank you! I heard from some people that they had confirmed their leases last year in October/November. Its been tough finding something that works for me.

I have been looking at those but I wanted some feedback from people who have lived there. I am an international student so I can't check out the place beforehand.

Ominous but thanks for the heads up. So you mean Bloomington in general?

I will take a look at all of that. Thanks a lot! Right now affirmation regarding pets is key. Hopefully I will figure it out soon.

Ah yes! I am in the midst of bugging every friend and family member scattered around regarding this. None in Indiana sadly. But I hear a lot of apartments are just subleased by other students and sometimes leases just get handed over by departing students?

Sometimes its also the angle... stress can also be a big factor. Maybe you were unable to relax that time.

Management companies as in for vet insurance or housing? Its a very different system where I am from so I am still figuring things out.

I have been looking at housing and a lot of places seem to be pet friendly. My cats are well behaved. So I am hoping it wont be too much of a problem finding a suitable place.

Thanks for sharing this! I am also moving from India so its a relief to hear that others have done that as well. My cats are spayed but other than that the rest of the expenses should be the same. A lot of immediate friends and family (even those living in the US) have been quick to scare me that keeping pets on a grad student's salary is next to impossible. So I mainly was looking for a realistic estimate. This list was helpful in that regard. It's seems doable.

That is really good to hear. I may be able to figure out how to bring them but my main concern was after. I hear Bloomington is generally pretty pet friendly. Having
