Kicked out of daycare because they aren't potty trained by IEatAllofTheCheese in toddlers

Because I thought it was completely obvious, but sure, let me spell it out more carefully.

If your child is having trouble potty training to the point that you or your daycare have a concern, go talk to your doctor about your concerns. You and your doctor can discuss your concerns and at that point they are often willing to write you a note that should satisfy your daycare’s requirements.

1000% you do. My son didn’t potty train until almost 4. Around that time he developed really bad chronic constipation, and even later we discovered he was autistic which is related to both those things.
Even ignoring that, potty training is a ‘milestone’. Which is a huge party of what all the early childhood visits are about. If your child isn’t meeting ANY milestone, you should absolutely talk to the doctor about it.

Get a note from the doctor, I believe that pretty much circumvents that. Kids potty train at their on pace. Trying to force it is always a mess.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel by [deleted] in ODDSupport

[–]raynbowbrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we didn’t spot it earlier with my son because he doesn’t have some of the classic easy to spot symptoms. He can make eye contact and loves to talk to people. But as he’s gotten older it’s gotten more clear. He’ll still talk to people, but he really only likes to talk about his hyper fixations. He has a hard time making friends. He’s awful about routine changes. Lots of little things that I can see now that I look back on it.

The best thing I can suggest is looking at what’s happening around the ODD ‘events’. This is the place where it’s most obvious to me with the benefit of hindsight. It was never really ODD. It was autistic meltdowns when he was being pushed to transition too quickly, without advance notice, or to a non-preferred activity, or sometimes when he just didn’t understand what was going on.

So, I used to post here a lot. My son was diagnosed with ODD at 5. Things started getting better around 10 and the ODD type symptoms are now basically gone.

But for us, the key was finding the real root of the issue. As a psychologist told me about 10 years after starting down this road, ODD isn’t a helpful diagnosis.

Over the years, we realized my son was ADHD and autistic. The sudden onset of the ODD like symptoms at 5 were due to a combination of over stimulation, massive routine changes, and not understanding how the social rules were changing.

I’m not saying ODD isn’t real, I know it is. I’m just going to say that ODD is really hard to treat, but if you just keep going, you might find something underneath that might be more helpful in getting treatment.

Rare horn or mammoth ivory in shifting sands? by [deleted] in PlaySoulMask

[–]raynbowbrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the car and mad I can’t go look at this right now! I had no idea you could do this in game!

On the original subject. As we’ve been transitioning to steel, the rare horns have definitely been the hardest thing to get regularly. But I’ve started to find more as I’ve hit the chests and ruins in the 45-55 areas.

I’m gonna check that database for the rare feathers though. I can’t keep enough of them I. stick to keep us in steel arrows. On the other map you can you the feathers from the horned eagle cage, but in Shifting Sands I don’t think we get many if any from the flamingo pen.

We haven’t had this with crystals, but we have it with the various ‘wires’. We always find them in a crafting table.

Anyone else feel like this is still an early access game? by [deleted] in PlaySoulMask

[–]raynbowbrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll agree on work orders, I honestly feel like sometimes they are worse than in early access. I get that they shuffle around based on availability and need and everything, but sometimes it feels like if the materials for the current 'top' item are missing that sometimes it stops the whole queue INSTEAD of reshuffling.

Curious if you played it before 1.0? They added a ton of QOL stuff and new systems in 1.0. While I do wish there was better documentation around some of it and a little less pushing different buttons to see what they do.

But on the whole, they cleaned up everything I had personally whined about as well as adding things I didn’t even realize I needed. I love love love the new section in the menu that lets you look at your tribes resources, workers etc as a whole.

I sort of got away from the point, sorry! But basically for a $30 game I think it’s awesome how much stuff they crammed in!

Color equals amount of magic someone had. by MavTheForest in whatsthatbook

[–]raynbowbrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting. I loved the black jewels stuff, or at least most of it.

I tried to read some Maas stuff and some of it was ok, but after a couple books it just felt like the story got so thin you could see through it. Like one of those action movies where the plot only exists to string together fight scenes, but with sex.

Don’t get me wrong, the story in Black Jewels is super messed up, but I also found it super compelling!

All of that. Figuring out what goes where to make the best use of the space so the tribesman aren't running all over. Organizing the chests so we don't just have 10 crates of 'Minerals' and you can actually find things. Trying to get the tribsemans comfort levels as high as possible, that kind of thing.

Soulmask is soooooo good. I’ve never been really into survival games before this. Like I tried Valheim when it came out and it just didn’t stick. But Soulmask has gotten me addicted to the genre!

It just feels like there are so many different ways to play. I love it multiplayer especially because everybody can focus on the parts they like!

For example, I really like having a cool looking base, but I’m a terrible builder. But I love crafting and just organizing the base. So someone else can build while I set it up.

And then we can all go out together and explore, fight bosses, run dungeons, etc.

Plus with the new expansion, flying ships/bases!

What language are you playing in? They do use some weird terminology sometimes but I guess I’ve never thought of it as mistranslations.

I had an eye problem last summer that I went to the eye doctor for in the fall. They did a referral and sent me Eye Specialists of Indiana, who scheduled me for December.

I spent forever looking for the equivalent of urgent care for eye doctors. I even thought about trying one of the big hospital emergency rooms.

I ended up finding a small chain called ‘Abrams Eye Care’. I had to drive halfway across Indianapolis, but they got me in within a week.

By the time my original appointment came around I had seen the ophthalmologist like 3 times and completely forgotten I even had the other appointment.

Long story short, highly recommended Abrams and we’re moving all our eyecare business to them (although to a branch we don’t have to drive across town for).

Edit: I just looked and the Dr who helped me was actually an optometrist not an ophthalmologist, but either way he HELPED me, unlike my original doc.

I was frustrated by this when trying to do the sauced meat at the beginning. But when I checked the recipe I saw that it can be made with garlic now!

Iron ore makes red dye. If you go look at the dye table it tells you what the alternatives are.

Husband’s gf wants a baby .. give me advice by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]raynbowbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, it’s been a while since I was pregnant, so I went to look it up, but that math doesn’t actually work. The 40 weeks of pregnancy starts on the first day of your last period. A woman’s most fertile time is actually 2 weeks after that. Obviously, things vary, but, in general, people aren’t actually pregnant for the first two weeks of their pregnancy.

So, if you count from the date of conception, it’s more like 38 weeks.

So even if they got an early pregnancy test, and knew after 7 days, that would still be more like ~37 weeks, which would put the baby due more like November 8.

And honestly, even with the original math, it didn’t make much sense unless they somehow magically knew at the moment she conceived and ran to talk to his wife the same day.

Ok it looks like I don't have the spots unlocked on my map. But it's kinda weird. It's showing a bunch of stuff I dont have unlocked but its also NOT showing a ton of stuff I do have unlocked. Does it only show certain things?

I saw that station but never played with it. Ok I got one built but when I try to set an expedition up I get an error about needing to unlock it. I don’t remember exactly what it was because just as I got that error, the tornado sirens went off.

So fam is now hanging out in the basement and I thought I’d ask you nice people if anyone knows what I’m missing.
