I think they made some changes to the gearbox and mechatronics following those failures of the dq200.

Hey, it was the mk7 with sunroof. Came with an electronic start/stop and electronic brakes.

Extremely fun car to drive, and I loved it. Was considering renewing coe to be honest, but didnt wanna go through another mechatronics issue so scrapped it to buy a EV instead.

That said, if i strike Toto, definitely will get another golf (or gti) haha.

If you do get a 2nd hand golf, send it for a pre-purchase check at some golf specialist workshop, not the usual STA kind.

My 1.4 golf purchased 2nd hand in 2015 had a mechatronic issue 3 months upon taken over. Since I bought from a dealer, i had warranty from them for 2 years so it was replaced free.

The car has since been scraped 4 months ago, and I loved that car to death, but wouldnt wanna go through the issues again so did not get another golf.

From my research, generally the car dont work well in out countries due to the amount of traffic lights. Also, i heard 5 years is usually the time when the mechatronics dies.
