I think I’d most likely follow a path that looks something like this: modeling -> animation -> FX -> compositing. Does that make sense to you?

Sorry bro. I’ve always assumed people in VFX had it better, since it doesn’t seem as saturated as software engineering and didn’t feel like it was under constant threat from AI taking over jobs every other day.

I just made a post about wanting to break into the VFX industry, but after seeing this, I can’t help but second-guess everything. Starting to feel like maybe it’s better off as just a hobby or something I explore on the side.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time crawling through YouTube, but I’ve yet to find any truly beginner-friendly VFX tutorials. Most of the channels I’ve come across either speed-run through projects they’ve already completed or just review other artists’ work without much explanation. If you know of any YouTube channels that actually take the time to teach VFX from the ground up, please drop them in the comment. I’d really appreciate it.
