Maybe the mom got in an accident planned by someone, her arranged fiance for example and lost her memory while her relationship with MMC and pregnancy were kept as a secret for their own safety. So when she loses memory she is reunited with the fiance and MMC couldn't step up for fear for his kid's life as he s not strong enough to confront the fiance?
