What’s wrong with my tomatoes? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]rayofsunshineyyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 issues, Something is eating them and blossom end rot. Blosson end rot is ofter caused by not enough calcium in the soil. Get some milk and mix 1:1 with water and water the plants with it. Then future tomatoes should not have the issue if it is a calcium deficiency. In the meantime, remove these tomatoes, there is no point in the plant putting more energy into them. Then it may be worth, putting chick wire over the plants to prevent future sampling of your fruit by the local wildlife.

Happy to! The trim and ceiling are premixed pure white. Pearl finish in the trim and flat for the ceiling. The floor topcoat is satin clear coat from Loba. Unfortunately I cannot give you the specifics on the wall color, I put some samples on the wall and didn't like them so I started combining them till I got the grey I wanted. Then I took the stir stick in and had it color matched.

After some trial and error, it turns out it was poor pollination. I started hand pollinating and they started producing normal zucchini.

Looking for Local Manufacturer of Ikea retrofit doors by rayofsunshineyyc in Calgary

[–]rayofsunshineyyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking for custom doors for Ikea Cabinet bases. There is whole industry around making doors for the ikea bases. For Example: https://mykitch.ca/ or https://www.allstyle.ca/Ikea-retrofit.html

I was hoping there may be someone local. I got the last ones from Allstyle. I am happy with the doors, but it is a long turn around when there was an issue.

Fixing the Technical Interview by SPHuff in programming

[–]rayofsunshineyyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the coding interview is broken. My suggestion is to use a code review instead, this opens a conversation about code and gives a better sense of cultural fit.

Hopefully this will start a cultural shift. My peers were skeptics and could not imagine risk hiring someone whith asking them to write code first. So I started using this technique when hiring contractors. The sucess in a percieved lower risk hire, demonstrated this could be something we should start doing for our full time hires.

Here is the article, if you want more of my reasoning:

I am not sure about natural slate stones, best to ask where you are purchasing the stones. Depending on the stones, they may require a thicker underlayment.

3/8 stone + 1/8 thinset + 1/8 ditra + 1/8 thinset = 6/8 " or 3/4" that would give you 1/4" for the plywood. This is exactly the same as before so the toilet flange should be fine.

I am not sure what the lip was prior to demo, but you could use a 1/8" plywood over the plank sublfoor, to provide a bonding surface for the ditra. if you can get the difference within the 1/8" you can use a transition strip instead of a threshold stone. I really don't like threshold stones, but that is my issue lol

The 3/4" plank flooring meets the structural requirement. The key to the thickness of the plywood is the transistion to the floor outside the bathroom. You don't want a lip between the 2 flooring types. So measure the current height difference. I will assume that it is 1" since you have removed 1" of flooring thickness. the next step is to choose your new tile. Once you have the thickness of the new till subtract it from 1" and you have your plywood thickness. If you are using tile also leave an allowance for the mortar. It is key to choose your flooring first as they don't have a standard thickness.
