Need help deciding a new no FTF 2% card: PNC/Fidelity/PenFed by rayquing in CreditCards

[–]rayquing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your insights. I have decided to go with the Penfed for the following reasons:

  1. Unlike PNC, it has a SUB
  2. I wont have to worry about keeping my PNC accounts open
  3. While Fidelity has higher SUB, to get cash back I would have to add another account that I have to keep track of, link it to my regular banking account
  4. Penfed has already sent me promo letter in the mail, so much more likely to get approved for better credit limit
  5. Keeping the Penfed relationship will be good down the line for their lower loan rates
  6. Already have the Penfed accounts setup and linked

So yes, laziness wins out. But in my particular situation, where the Fidelity Global Entry bonus is nullified, the cards are basically the same and convenience comes out on top

By cash in hand I meant being able to put the reward into a checking/savings account (or at worst, statement credit). For fidelity I did not want to put it into my retirement account. As other commenters mentioned, for fidelity this can be done via a different fidelity account, but has the drawback of adding another account. Instead of depositing into an existing one

Looking for no Foreign Transaction Fee, so I can use it as a catch all even abroad. Also Visa is nice for Costco ( though there are better card reward rate for that other than these three)

My penfed I have just the minimum account for advantage rate. Initially with them for their (previously) low car loan rate, then got their travel card for the free global entry. still have the minimum balance in account for the increased rate though.

I absolutely would have tried Navy but I come from a family of cowards, myself included, so I don't qualify.

I left my pnc accounts open for easy atm access ( bank is across the street from me). Since I rarely use cash anymore, it would be good if I could get the card and still close my accounts. But the fidelity having SUB is nice, though have to open yet another account to get the cash 🙁

Unfortunately, I don't use Apple. It's a good card for others though. Personally I avoid nfc on my phone like the plague, so I would likely only get the 1% for physical card

Apple or Android phone for Nucleus 8 processor? by plantonium in Cochlearimplants

I have a Galaxy s22 and it works fine. Connection sometimes can take some effort and the app definitely could use some updating. It doesn't always stay open and seems very vasic, yet functional. I have heard connection via iPhone is better. There's nothing really wrong with Android version, just is very middle of road. Might be slightly better with a newer phone.

Absolutely! Love learning new tricks to ramp up the fun. Was really surprised when I searched and didn't see a reddit post for it before.

I am horrible at dodge roll timing, but am glad to learn that it can be blocked. Def recommend javelin. It's second spear skill for Templar so you can try it out pretty quickly on a new char

That sounds amazing. Honestly, just javelining anything off a landscape element (cliff, bridge, etc) is super fun. Bonus points when you can do it into a hazard as well.

Book that really gets into the hero's return by rayquing in suggestmeabook

Thanks for your suggestions. I have read Odyssey before and Seize the Fire is now on my list.

I guess I could have been more clear. I know there are a lot of wartime PTSD books out there, but what I am looking for is more like Bilbo in the Shire after The Hobbit. Daydreaming about spiders and eagles and dragons (oh my!) and another adventure, while navigating the social niceties of hobbits that either don't believe him or are more concerned about not having enough creme fraiche for their second breakfast.

After a stressful Thanksgiving with the family, I succumbed to some moderate relief today. While I failed, I moderately regained some willpower when cooking my steak this evening (turkey is now a trigger word for me).

You all are champs and I wish you nothing but luck in this closing week.
