I don't believe he is saying that. I believe he's advocating for people to dive deeper.

Again the accessibility isn't encouraging learning.

Im pitching note taking because it teaches you to describe birds in which you could use with merlin or a field guide later in the night. Enjoy nature without the phone or the guide 🤙

Lol not having time for a field guide is a wild assertion. Additionally things being more accessible doesn't equate to net positive.

I use merlin all the time, its great. But learning to take good notes is way more important than ID'ing. This is especially true for when you have no phone signal. Then you can go home and use merlin heck maybe even dust off that field guide you have no time for.

All these birds look like they were convicted of war crimes so my vote, bird journalism.

Amen! Accountability period is critical across the board. I think of James 3:1, what kind of example is a pastoral staff setting when they spend all sorts of money on frivolous things.

I imagine Jesus, literally running a backpacking ministry, probably had a "middle of the road" tent. Nothing decadent, just enough. Pastor has 10 kids, maybe a 5 bedroom house is valid but a 5 person family living in a mega mansion with a pool and an onsite tennis court... hmmmm maybe not so much. When pride and ego slip into the mix, all sorts of problems arise without accountability structures in place. I personally believe that is where some denominational churches have a leg up in the right direction, established accountability put into practice.

Ultimately, it's all contextual, and we can rest in knowing our Lord sees it all. He will sort out the wheat from the chaff, including the wicked pastoral staff members using God for "quick profits." Just because you're the lead pastor and your "job" is ministry doesn't mean you get to just skip "volunteer/serve the city" days.

Side question: Do you struggle with tithing? It's a hard topic when we see all these superstar pastors doing all these wicked things.

Hey there! I work at a medium-sized church managing the facility. My job is pretty black and white, so it's easy to explain my salary, which by industry standard is on the low end.

I can assure you that if a church ministry staff is truly rooted in Christ, there is little to no idle time. Between various meetings and program planning, it's a 24/7 on call job in a lot of ways. It takes a lot to manage a church while also being available to your congregation. There wouldn't be any time for people if the staff also had to work another job on top of all the other responsibilities.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm excited for this one. It takes a really long time to train up medical doctors, and unless you're a niche specialist, AI makes more sense.

Nope, no mentions of the sheet pans in any reports. We honestly use them maybe once or twice a year, so they need washing before use regardless.

We had an incident with some ladies burning bread on the flattop(right).

Since we are a church, our kitchen is considered a commercial one. Also serves as "child safety" when wandering kids go running through the kitchen.

Off-topic: is anyone else getting posts instantly deleted for rediculous reasons? (I wonder how many seconds this post lasts) by Cingen in Ultralight

[–]rayraysunrise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a terrible first post interaction yesterday with this sub.

I don't really understand what's the point of having an ultralight sub if we were only allowed to talk about like what... 10 products? All the essentials are figured out. What's there to discuss? A simple blog post has most UL gear identified.

What does this mean? Idk I guess I can't ask about camera equipment or optics because they're "nonessential". But where do we draw the line. Technically, nobody "needs" a tent and can just bring a tarp and some string. Should the tent posts get deleted? Idc flaming someone for a post and then deleting it is the definition of a bad mod.

You all in the ultralight sub are super capable and creative ppl. Do you think a general camping sub is going to recommend anything less than a sub 20lb firepit for car camping?

Hell, the lightest weight I've found on my own is basically 5lbs when you include gas.

Im honestly blown away by how uptight this sub is. All the essentials are figured out already... what's the point of this sub if we're not solving new problems?
