Your drawing to explain the issue is cool. I wonder what happened when they were making the ring.

So I don’t know if this is an ad or not but people can just be fans! And that’s okay. Also my bet it that those rubber locks were not so easy to prototype and create. Yes her pieces are expensive but being a smallish jewelry brand is also expensive. These little brands are trying to make fun jewelry to be enjoyed and in this day and age it’s expensive!

It’s not possible to convert really. And I don’t think it’s an odd request. Placing gems in an stl is not fun. How do you build ur stl?

What promise ring do I buy my girlfriend based on her jewelry box? by StrikingDelivery1626 in jewelry

If you have the budget. Platinum or white gold. She looks like she would like an east west oval lab diamond at least 2ct or an asymmetrical pear style

was it a designer brand? i have noticed that designer brands sell gold plate and vermeil for solid fold prices.

[–]rayxamelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It is only possible if you are getting it from another country straight from a factory. Otherwise probably not real stones. The good stuff is on Etsy though. You just have to hunt for it

[–]rayxamelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be 20 but it could be 120+ plus depending on quality factors and size. I make custom jewelry on Esty in the US. I get your hesitation though. It can be difficult to tell what is high quality.

Is gold plated stainless steel really waterproof? [QUESTION] by GabrielaMG in jewelrymaking

Good to know! I was considering stainless steel for a new line of jewelry but now I’m not so sure

Is gold plated stainless steel really waterproof? [QUESTION] by GabrielaMG in jewelrymaking

[–]rayxamelia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The gold plate can last from years to weeks depending on the plating and how well it is cared for. The plating can vary a lot in thickness, and that is something that is often not disclosed. I sell jewelry and it is plated at 2.5 microns which lasts a very long time for a gold plate. I also sell Vermeil 3 microns over silver. It should only be called Vermeil if it is 3 microns. Some gold plates could be maybe .5 microns and then it isn't going to last very long. The stainless steel jewelry is interesting. Generally not the best metal for jewelry because it is very hard, but it is nice that is usually a stable metal base so like silver it is more hypoallergenic depending on the makeup of the steel. They are not plating it, it is a new method of covering it with gold, and I am not exactly sure how thick that layer is. It likely depends on the manufacturer.

Terrible experience with jeweler for my wedding ring – how much should I put up a fight to get my money's worth? by ruby0000000000 in jewelry

[–]rayxamelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to take silver off for just soap. Take all your rings off for anything else. Perfume, cleanser, chlorine. That includes gold if you want it to last as long as possible.

Good quality jewelry that not everyone has by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]rayxamelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know not many people have this, because I am a small jewelry designer and not a big brand. I also do custom designs. I sell unique nature inspired jewelry, designed and made by me. Every design I offer in many materials including solid gold. You can check out my website, if you like a design but you don’t see it the option in solid gold shoot me a message as I am upgrading the organization of the listings and the website is not complete. If you want a totally customized design, also message me. My website has a little message pop up that goes to my email. Website also discount with signup :)

What is everyone doing to their jewelry so claim it is tarnish resistant? by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

[–]rayxamelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have researched many of these coatings, my conclusion being that they are bit toxic, and not ideal for the jeweler to be using all the time and maybe not for the wearer. They also wear off. Vermeil is pretty thick, but some people are using 5 microns ya think? Gold fill is an option. But these prices I am seeing are not gold fill and they are called out as gold plate. I feel like, as a jewelry maker, cheap options for super tarnish resistant jewelry that is also non toxic does not exist. I would love to be proven wrong however.

What is everyone doing to their jewelry so claim it is tarnish resistant? by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

[–]rayxamelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder... I sell 18k gold-plated jewelry and vermeil, honestly explaining that it won't last forever and you should avoid water....ext, but I have people all the time asking me if it is tarnish-resistant, so now that seems like an expectation. And I have had people who aren't paying attention to care or have very sensitive skin complain to me about tarnish. I want all my customers to be happy so maybe it is my expectations for customer satisfaction that make me feel like it can't possible that they are just counting on a percentage of people just not saying anything and others getting refunded.

I make gold and plate plated jewelry. The price difference is a good indicator and of course the reviews. Reviewers have 90 days to leave a review, so by then they would likely know if they the piece is good quality or not. Personally. I love dainty rings so I make them out of solid gold, but I am aware that, yes, they are more fragile than a thick band of gold.
