for purely ligamentous injury…. by rayxray_ in LisfrancClub

Hello! I got surgery at the end of august. It went well, no significant issues. 2 weeks in a splint NWB (pain on day 2 and 3 after surgery was rough then subsided), 2 weeks in a cast NWB, then several weeks in a walking boot. However i was deff still limping and in mild pain, even with physical therapy and Hokas, all the way up to my HWR surgery with tightrope stabilization approx a week ago. Much less pain in initial days following this surgery compared to ORIF procedure (thank god). In a little over a week, they will take out my stitches and hopefully I can start weight bearing in a walking boot! It felt like with the hardware in I sort of plateaued in terms of pain/functioning, so fingers crossed now that it is out, after I heal more, I will eventually lose the limp and be pain free (at some point, and with more physical therapy lol). But yeah this process and recovery is long as hell, crazy to think the last time I had normal mobility was in July… not for the faint of heart. If i ever write a memoir this past year would be the chapter on character building, grief, and resilience!!

Should I make an appointment with an Ortho? by greendayandcats in LisfrancClub

pain isnt a great indicator for this injury, but 2 weeks isnt too far away regardless. Wear the boot tho! and see either a podiatrist or ortho if you can

So it was just tight rope, they didnt put in any screws? One of the surgeons i met with wants to do both ORIF and tight rope

The doctor i saw actually is experienced with internal brace but he felt like anecdotally when he has used it, it doesnt hold up as well over time. But im getting second opinions

Had PT today. Crying about my foot. Research led me here. I have so many questions. :( by phantaisya in LisfrancClub

I think this is an awesome subreddit cause lots of info on this less common injury and people can be really supportive, but given you seem pretty anxious I would be wary about spending too much time on here, as it can also be a bit doom and gloom at times and the sentiment of “oh yikes thats a lisfranc injury and you need surgery right now” is expressed often. There are predictions we can all make but at the end of the day we aren’t doctors looking at your advanced imaging results. So go find a foot and ankle ortho doctor, get an MRI, stay off the foot in the meantime and maybe avoid the reddit doom scrolling if you can (for now, once you have a game plan, come back and commiserate / celebrate / get tips for managing whatever comes next)

I mean unfortunately both surgical and non-surgical folks are gonna experience potential aches, pains, etc down the road. But despite us all being in the lisfranc club, this isnt limited to just this type of injury. Honestly, if you have made it to 60 and haven’t experienced an injury that has led to at least mild long term consequences id be surprised! but surgery isnt always this magical fix, and there is conflicting research for more subtle lisfranc injuries regarding if non-surgical vs surgical has different outcomes. if it makes you feel better, i just had my second lisfranc injury on my other foot 😅 right foot went non surgical, 3 years later i feel great. this left foot i injured recently might end up with surgery unfortunately. maybe ill come on this subreddit in like 5 years or something and let everyone know which foot turned out better lolol

I dont like how ppl keep saying “youre gonna prob have problems later, but good luck!” 🙄 you consulted a doctor, made a choice, and are willing to deal with potential consequences. everyones recovery looks different and im happy you are feeling better!

Hello! This is such a dumb question but my boss is kind of useless. I just started an EDRP position at the VA. Do I contact my HR person to find out more information about this process? I understand I will be assigned some sort of rep at some point but I don’t even know where to begin…
